Product Description
Ramsond has quickly become a recognized name for the quality and durability of its products. The Ramsond RMM4 2-IN-1 flooring stapler & cleat nailer combination is another testament to the recognition that Ramsond tools now enjoy. With over 30,000 units sold in North America, the RAMSOND (R) RMM4, patented combination 2-in-1 hardwood cleat nailer and stapler is an engineering marvel. It shoots both cleat nails and staples. It shoots 15.5 and 16 gauge staples ranging from 1 to 2 inches, and "L" cleat ranging from 1-1/2" to 2". The 2-in-1 magazine has a capacity of 100 staples/cleats. It is highly durable and contractor/industrial quality, yet light weight and agile. The body of this gun is constructed of durable die-cast alloy for job site durability and low weight.

4 out of 5 stars Great Gun   March 20, 2010
J. Honaker (Millville, NJ USA)
I own a small home repair & improvement company and decided to try this item out. I do such a wide range of projects its pretty much impossible for me to have a super expensive tool for everything. With the great price tag on this gun it seemed a much better option then repeatedly renting one a couple times a year. The gun is surprisingly well built and comes w/ 2 no-mar foot plates, one for 1/2"-5/8" flooring & 1-for 3/4" flooring. I used the gun for shooting 2" L-Type flooring nails thru bamboo flooring without any problems, I did have a couple nails that had to be set with a nail punch but that could have been from me not striking it squarely or my pancake compessor recovering. I did not try the gun w/ staples though it seems to me that it would work equally as well. Although I have not owned this tool for an extended period of time and cannot say how it will hold up over the long term, I would recommend this product to anyone. It seems to be a great flooring gun and does not cost a ridiculous 3-$500. The only reason I dont give it 5 stars is because the cardboard box it comes shipped in looks cheap n might have a miss spelled word or two on it which is a little scary at first until you open everything up and find a really nice flooring gun inside.

1 out of 5 stars Damages the wood   March 18, 2010
B W (A.G. CA)
Used this on about 100 sq ft before having to call it quits. The gun marred the edge of the wood near the tongue. After messing with the base plate and inspecting the gun I had the same results. It was ruining my wood! I tried to hit the plunger softer but only to find it would not sink the nail. Hit it too hard and had to replace the wood.

5 out of 5 stars Bargain priced/quality product   March 14, 2010
Richard Krehn Jr. (Michigan)
As a professional installer I was alittle leary of such a "bargain priced" product. I am normally a firm believer in you get what you pay for. I just finished installing 600 sq ft of Bamboo. I used some staples and cleats just to see how easy this gun could use each. This gun fired EVERY staple and cleat to perfect depth every time. I had the pressure set at 80# and not one misfire or fail. Like some of the other reviewers on this product I had to shim the base plate some for proper allignment for staple/cleat placement. To say the least I was very satisfied with my purchase of this gun and would recommend this product to anyone. I am not employed by nor afiliated/associated with Amazon or Ramsond in any way shape or form, i am not a professional reviewer like some, I did not and will not receive any compensation in any form for this review. This is 100% my opinion and truthfull to my experience.

5 out of 5 stars Home Remodel Gem   March 11, 2010
croooowe (RTP, NC)
Like so many people here, I was turned off by the $350+ price of the name brand pneumatic floor nailers/staplers and saw the many good reviews on this unit. I was very hesitant to buy off brand but decided to give it a try and am now very happy that I did.

I just finished a 200sf room using this as a stapler and it was nearly flawless. I had one misfire when it got to the end of the staples but it did not damage anything. Another time I realized that I was having issues was after I had swapped tools which required adjusting the air pressure. When I adjusted back I apparently was a little higher on the pressure than before and it was crushing the wood a bit. Readjusted back down and it worked perfectly again.

Notes:
Used the recommended Bostitch staples with great success.
Stay on the low side of the recommended working pressure, and it is still plenty powerful.
Also, although it never caused an issue before I did it, I followed others suggestions and used two layers of duct tape on the 3/4 base for Bruce flooring so as not to have the nozzle catch the tongue.
Not sure if they upgraded or reworked or if I got lucky but many reviews complained about the mallet coming apart and my mallet survived my project in tact and I did not go easy on it.

I know for the price and based on the time I was using it around my job and life, it was much cheaper than renting it from anywhere and it worked very well for me. I cannot vouch for long term use but if you want to justify the purchase to redo a room or two, I would definitely highly recommend this unit.

3 out of 5 stars Don't buy direct from Ramsond!   February 26, 2010

I bought direct from Ramsond and the tool arrived with a hole in the housing. I didn't open the package and find the defect until (2) weeks after it arrived. My mistake! Ramsond will try and charge you shipping back to them plus a $35 inspection fee plus shipping back to you unless you report the defect within (1) day. Even if you report defects within (1) day you still pay for shipping to them plus the $35 inspection fee! I'm not making that up, check their web policy. That adds up to between $60 to $80 even if the tool is defective right from the factory. Ouch!

It appears Ramsond makes a good product but their customer service is terrible. I felt like a thief just trying to get them to work with me.

Buy from Amazon, they have customer service which works.
