Minnie Job Site Tool November 17, 2009 Jerry Christensen I have a large compound saw I use in my shop but needed a small one which would be light enough to easily carry to a job site. This saw was inexpensive and fit my needs. Amazon as usual was prompt in delivery and the saw came to me in new condition. I like the way it works and is good for the small jobs I plan on for its use.
Hard to change blade and guard is an issue November 14, 2009 bunnyrabbit4 (New Orleans, LA USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've had two of these (lost one in Katrina) and I know another person who has one. We've all had the same problem. We lost our blade guard the first time we tried to change a blade. In order to change the blade you need to unscrew the nut that holds the spring loaded guard to the blade housing. Undo it completely and you suddenly find yourself with a handful of parts you have no clue how to reassemble. The blade guard also has a lot of horizontal wobble to it, enough so that if your wood binds and shifts it to one side or the other, the blade will eat into the interior of the plastic and cause it to hang. It is a shame that Ryobi doesn't put a little more forethought into these details because otherwise it is a nice little saw for home/hobby use. If you are wondering why I bought another, it was because I figured I'd be getting rid of it before I had to change the blade and the price was right...then there is the "devil you know". From what I have read they have a similar issue with an unstable plastic guard on their table saw.
This is a joke, right? November 5, 2009 P. Fracassa (Detroit) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a joke, right? It is a Ryobi! $359!!! And recon to boot? You can buy a Dewalt for less than that! This has got to be a mistake.
Great Value October 9, 2009 thundercloud (Central Missouri) I'm a beginning woodworker. I'm starting to build my inventory of tools. I liked this saw because I was able to purchase what is basically a new miter saw at half price. So far the only negative I see is that the instructions are a bit hard to follow. It would be helpful if in the instructions they had a extra large blown up diagram that explains all the parts.
I've yet to actually use the saw and I will post an update when I do.
Ryobi reconditioned miter saw September 22, 2009 Skycats2 (TX) As a do-it-yourselfer, I was looking for a miter saw that would not break the bank. Purchased this one and found that it works and looks like new. Very easy to set the miter angles and the laser takes the guess-work out of the cut. It also came with a one year warranty. Very pleased and recommend it.
