great tools November 16, 2009 Dennis Edgin so far i have had these tools for about a month they have been great have used them every week end and am still on the same battery charge. that is driving 3 inch screws and 1/4 in lag bolts may finally have to charge them next weekend.
Awesome Drill and Impact setup! November 8, 2009 D.I.Y. DAVIS (IL) I love these things! They replaced my 19.2 volt craftsman drill, which I am sad to get away from since I have so many of the tools to go with that battery type. My craftsman drill trigger was going out for a year, finally died, and I decided to go with this set since they have the 5 year warranty. My grandpa told me to go with Hitachi but Milwaukee still caught my eye in the end.
These things are amazing! Light weight, balanced nice when resting on the tool belt or clipped on my pants pocket. The drill has the same power as my 19.2 and is way easier to handle! The "fuel" gauge is pretty awesome as well, letting me know exactly what is left in the pack when leave the garage to do a job in the house. The light on both of them do a good job lighting the area where the bit is at so you can see better what you are drilling or driving.
The impact driver is amazing as well! My buddies said I would never use it, boy were they wrong! I use it to drive 3 inch screws as using it will increase your battery life over how many 3 inch you are running versus the drill. pretty loud though, but I didnt expect anything different being an impact unit. The neighbors all came over to run a few screws in with it as the noise drew them over. WOW is all I could really say after running a screw in even since I have bought them.
My grandpa came over to check em out, man was he surprised! the weight! the fact that they stand on the battery, the fuel gauge, and how tough they are really made him want to see if my grandma would let him get a set and replace his 1 year old Hitachi! HAHAHAHA! She said No! HAHAHA! Now he wants to burn up his Hitachi!
I would definetly buy them again. My only complaint is that the Battery power doesn't hold up as long as the 19.2 craftsman did, but I am confidant that the XC version would do it. Gonna wait a little before I buy an extra battery as they are [...] bucks each which seems to be in line price wise with other brands. Also I have the Milwaukee Jobsite radio, and these don't work in it. Maybe they will make an adapter..... I doubt it, so is the life of tools, propriatary differences.
Otherwise I have no other bad remarks. Definetely worth it! (They are also making more tools for this new battery setup! yay!)
Dissappointed in quality of drill November 8, 2009 Chris Kitten (Austin, TX) I've was a loyal Milwaukee customer until I got this drill/driver combo. Here are the issues I have with the drill:
1. About 50% of the time, the gear selector on the top of the drill gets stuck during actuation, no matter how hard you push. The chuck must be rotated slightly for it to fully seat. I would expect this from junky harbor freight tools, but not Milwaukee.
2. The fit of the battery to the body of the drill is loose. The fit is much tighter on the impact driver.
3. Major pinch point between the LED housing and the torque adjustment ring. You have to be sure to grasp the ring toward the front of the drill to avoid this.
4. After about 2 weeks of light use, the white paint that forms the large Milwaukee emblem on the drill started flaking off. I used my fingernail to easily scrape the rest of it off since it made it look junky. This is cost cutting at it's worst! Milwaukee, this is your brand!
The quality of the impact driver seems to be a cut above the driver.
By the way, I returned my first kit because of these issues, but the second kit was identical to the first in it's flaws.
Time to switch brands. Milwaukee, your poor design execution and/or cost cutting went way too far with this product.
Both tools are good ! November 7, 2009 Richard L. Watson (Yorba Linda CA USA) Both tools are powerful. The batteries are easy to replace and charge. Learning to use Impact Driver takes a little time for it can drive screws deep in surface if you don't turn off when screw is level with surface. Good price.
takes a licking.... November 2, 2009 rottweilerjohn (silver city nm usa) i used this combo kit (mostly the impact driver)on my bath room re-build...floor ,joists ,framing , and i pretty much used 3 1/2 inch screws on every thing except for the sheet rock. which by the way was fun with the impact-driver ...made proper counter sinking of the screws a breeze!
i worked it hard all day, every day for about a week and shattered 3 bits.....i have no complaints.
the battery's held up nicely for being so small and light weight, and the sturdy belt hooks on both the drill and the driver were an unexpected bonus i had previously over looked until i got them. so in short i would recommend this kit to anyone seeking a sturdy well built tool for a reasonable price.
