| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Green laser pointers are fully legal for laser pointer use in most countries and at just below the maximum allowable legal power limit of 5mw for a pointer in most countries. We ensure that every high power green laser pointer is hand calibrated and tested to output at least 4.99mw and thus offers the expected stunning power expected of a real constant wave green (532nm) laser pointer, much brighter to look at than a regular red laser pointer and always with a visible green beam.
This high power green laser pointer will impress your coworkers, family and friends. Use it for your next presentation and everybody will know that you are ahead of the latest technology.

Some good, some bad November 18, 2009 JNPMLS (Los Angeles, CA USA) I purchased two of these as gifts with the expectation to use them for astronomy. The price was too good to ignore even with the questionable reviews. The first laser that I turned on was immediately very bright. I cannot estimate the power output because I do not have enough experience with green lasers; but I believe it is close to 5mW. The second laser was substantially dimmer than the first. After the 30sec warm-up it got brighter, though still clearly lower output than the first one. Outside the difference was clear too. I had trouble using the dimmer laser for pointing out stars. The 30sec warm-up each time it's turned on is extremely annoying -- note the instructions specify a 30sec warm-up is required. Also, even when it got brighter, sometimes I had trouble seeing it and pointing to the stars. Though, I should clarify that I was testing this in an area with a lot of light pollution; I believe it should be okay in darker skies more favorable for observing. I'm going to keep both because for <$15, it's an ok purchase and will function for my needs. If you want a good green laser, buy a different brand.
Also, I did receive the "Double Bonus L.E.D. Flashlight" which is your basic mini light, like the type you find on key chains.
good for astronomy on dark sky conditions November 17, 2009 M. Grullon Good for orientation on sky , looking for constelations , showing guest to look at some stars or nebula , for the price... Perfect
Nice bright pointer November 17, 2009 J. Bobay (Indiana) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've recently read about green laser pointers because of the 'warm up' time mine seems to need. I've read that this is fairly common. It often starts up a little brighter than a red <5mw typical pointer, but, depending on the ambient temperature, it grows in intensity in about 5-30 seconds to full brightness, and when it gets there, you can actually navigate dark rooms by shining it on the celing. At full power, beam is clearly visible in a medium-dark sky (I live in a mid-sized city). Can be seen outside on a cloudy day, especially on a white surface. My dog was happy to chase it in the daytime (just don't let it get in his or her eyes)! Just be very careful, as the reflected beam can be very very bright, even on a non-reflective surface like a white wall.
Mine is actually able to raise a thermometer 12 degrees by shining it into the red bulb of the thermometer. Also, try carefully shining it into a lava lamp (watch out for reflections) and watch the beam color change inside! Shining it in a lake is also interesting, as you see the beam refract as it enters the water, and the beam is brighter in the water than in the air, so it looks odd.
Also, this unit chews through batteries. I have used 700mAh NiMH batteries, and it drained them in an hour or two.
Overall, it is a fairly well-built pointer, it came with all accessories, including the little mini LED flashlight, cloth, good AAA alkaline batteries, and a case. The only downside is that depending on its startup temperature, it may not achieve full brightness for 30 seconds or so. And from what I've read, yours may not be the same, it's just up to luck. But for the price, you can't go wrong with this one.
Great presentation tool and toy November 9, 2009 Kevin Gaghan I use it for my presentations, and the color being green for right now picks up people's attention. My kids use it to play with the dog, but must constantly warn against flashing towards faces. Great for pointing out stars. The kids can follow the direction much better with the visible pointer
Love it November 9, 2009 Facilities Management I purchased 4 of these and gave 1 to my boss for his use soon enough I had to order more because his boss wanted a few. These were delivered quickly and are wonderful for presentations.
