| Customer Reviews: Chainsaw? Got Oil? August 13, 2009 K. Beach (Minnesota) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My easy-to-handle electric chainsaw works as well as the clumsier gasoline powered ones I've used and it goes through just as much chain oil. Yours will too if you treat it right. Keep the chain sharp and tight...and keep the oil reservoir full. This means you'd better keep a couple quarts of the stuff on hand. What kind of oil? At the rate a properly-functioning machine dispenses the stuff, who cares? Tanaka works fine and Amazon Prime keeps it coming to my door postage-free when I don't feel like wandering through the local "big box" in search of something similar.
Worked ok after misunderstanding- Read the label! July 10, 2009 Falcon_01 (Huntsville, Al) 3 out of 8 found this review helpful
I dumped this on the wife thinking it said "ball and chain oil." Do NOT. I repeat- Do NOT do that.
Following The Incident (whose details are best left to your imagination), I escaped, taking my Tanaka Bar and Chain Oil Quart Bottle #700220 to where it would be more appreciated: the Bar. I could not find a Tanaka Bar (whatever/wherever that is) on my GPS, so I just went down to the local place.
After a few drinks, I decided to give my Tanaka Bar and Chain Oil Quart Bottle #700220 another chance (since I made a mistake earlier). Let me tell you what, USE SPARINGLY! When the bartender slid drinks down the bar before they might slide to a stop in front of someone other than the intended customer (which caused more than one fight), but after pouring this on the bar, the glasses were sliding all over the place, splattering against the wall, and falling to the floor, which caused the oil to get on the floor, and that is something you do not want, especially when people are trying to fight over their spilled drinks. The denizens of the bar have a hard enough time catching their footing as it is, but when the floor of the bar is well-oiled with Tanaka Bar and Chain Oil Quart Bottle #700220, they can't even stand still without falling over- after swaying a little, that is.
Encouraged at how well it provided results (though not those which were anticipated), I had everyone wearing a chain dip it in the Tanaka Bar and Chain Oil Quart Bottle #700220, but we weren't sure what it was supposed to accomplish, aside from ruining our clothes, which it did just fine. They really should just call this stuff bar oil 'cause that's about all it seems good for... although, come to think of it I did have someone try to pull my chain, and sure enough, it slipped right through their fingers!
Works fine July 7, 2009 Morley Dotes (Flushing, New York USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I picked this up in a pinch and it works fine. I do not use my chain saw so often that I need to be concerned. I do agree that synthetic is generally better, especially if you are going to use it often or run it for a long time (keep in mind, however, that using a long time may damage certain tendons, especially if you do not use a chainsaw frequently). Still, I give it 4 stars because it does what it says. Take off one star for value, as I think it is a bit expensive. Like I said, Mobil1, Castrol, etc, make synthetics that cost a bit more and can take more heat and last longer.....if you need it.
High RPM oil - for almost any need April 28, 2009 C. Trevino 14 out of 16 found this review helpful
I'll advise that for chainsaw bar oil - you can safely use any 20-30W engine oil. I highly recommend a synthetic 20-30W oil because it seems to work best. Go to you local automotive store and spend $2 on a quart of 20-30W motor oil for your chain saw lube. Don't waste your money on this or any other stuff claiming to be what you need for chainsaw chain lube. You can use this same oil weight for pretty much any high RPM tool - weed eater, generator, compressor - I speak from experience. Quaker State 20-30W Synthetic High RPM motor oil works in all my machines and tools - including my high RPM drill. You don't have to go with Quaker State... I just know it works for pretty much every thing I've thrown at it.
