buy it March 7, 2010 PITA (DC) Great shower head. Don't worry about the auto-switch to the low flow setting; even the low flow provides plenty of water for a very satisfying shower. Installation is easy and leakage has not been a problem. Oustanding product.
Works pretty well March 4, 2010 Nossah (USA) All in all, this is a decent shower head. I have low water pressure but this performs as well at 1.5 gpm as my old 2.5 gpm did. The only thing I don't understand is that some of the water leaks from the bottom of the head.
Makes shower relaxing again February 15, 2010 C. Wang (San Diego, CA) I love a good shower, especially one with strong pressure and lots of water. Recently I moved from Vancouver to San Diego, and was shocked to find water prices so high here in South California. Back in Canada water was free.... Guess I had it good and I didn't even know it!
Having the water price so high made me conscious about my water usage habits, and I feel guilty showering for too long since I know it'll cost me at the end of the month when I have to pay for the bills. I started looking for these water saver shower heads, but most of them were crap. I tried a cheap one from Walmart, it was awful. Made weird noises, water turned into a mist instead, and actually stings a bit. Finding that unacceptable, I looked on amazon for a better one and found the American Standard. It's rated so highly by fellow amazon shoppers, I had to give it a try despite it's high price. It is worth every penny they are charging for it. Installation was easy. And even in the water saver mode it showers extremely well. Water feels like they have a lot of volume, and it is more concentrated in the middle so when you are rinsing off the shampoo from your hair the water is where you'd want it to be.
The only drawback I can think of is that in water saver mode the water is aerated, so the water temperature drops a bit.
Other than that, it's made showering much more enjoyable since I know I'm not wasting too much water anymore.
Solid and attractive February 13, 2010 J. Gossage (augusta, GA) This is an attractive and easy to install unit. The watersaving mode is more of a spray/mist and proably not to useful in the shower. The full mode feels pretty strong. It would be nice if it had a temporary shut off valve/switch for when you are soaping up.
Great Low Flow Showerhead February 5, 2010 B. Mckinley (NY) We just replaced our old, leaky showerhead with this low flow, trumpet shaped American Standard model and we're very pleased. The three settings are all very distinct and at least one should please everyone in your home. The one knock is that the showerhead does not come with instructions or guides in the box. It's not hard to do, but if you're not handy with plumbing it might be a turnoff.
The low flow "reset" is great. It automatically resets to the lowest setting when you shut the shower off. Switching between the settings while in the shower is easy.
The lowest setting is powerful. There is a temperature difference between low and medium, I think because there is a "turbine" effect on the lowest setting and it makes the water just a bit colder. But it's not a big deal once you know it's there.
