Product Description Handy SwitchTM - the wireless light switch controls an lamp in any room without tools, wiring or mess. Just peel and press! Plug lamp into remote receiver. Wireless switch uses a powerful radio frequency that penetrates walls- can be removed and reused, too. Why pay an outrageous electrician bill? Includes switch and remote receiver.

Great idea, if it worked... September 26, 2008 Bought first one - it worked a few times, then stopped. The light had gone out on the plug part. Bought another one - it worked to turn the light on, but not off, then stopped working entirely...bummer...
Great idea, but incredibly unreliable. July 9, 2008 I bought one of these to control a halogen lamp in my apartment. For about a week it worked like a charm. Then all of a sudden it stopped working. I exchanged it for a new unit, since I figured that one was a defective singularity. My second unit stopped working after a couple of days.
Not learning from my mistakes, I exchanged it for a third unit, since when functional this product is phenomenal. (all three came from different stores of the same chain) Well, my third unit broke after about 30 minutes. If someone comes up with a reliable one of these, I'll buy it in a heartbeat, otherwise, don't waist your money.
Because a dresser makes a great nightstand and The Clapper is just plain silly July 7, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Cathy and I keep our clothes in a pair of tall dressers which double as our nightstands. The bedside lamps are at the ideal height for lighting up the bedroom and for in-bed reading. The downside: When Morpheus beckons you into the Land of Nod, you have to haul yourself halfway out of bed to turn off the lamp, breaking the spell.
The Clapper might be fine for solo sleepers but I don't think my better half would appreciate a burst of applause after she's drifted off. When we found these on the As Seen On TV rack at a nearby store, we took the plunge, Billy Mays notwithstanding.
With the switch-shaped transmitter attached to the side of the dresser at pillow height, the Handy Switch does what it promises, and the receiver is a helpful, if brilliant, nightlight and power indicator. Since it uses the same miniature 12-volt battery as our doorbell button and garage door opener transmitters, maintenance is no-brainer simple.
Great until it broke May 15, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
So this worked really nicely until it stopped working randomly. I was using it to turn on a fan. I turned it on, off, and then on....and nothing. And then it refused to ever work again. Also, be aware that the switch plate is physically fairly thick, probably about two normal plates in thickness.
Convenient but flaky April 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought four of these to control independent lamps around my apartment. The switches are close together on the wall, and the outlets are spread out across the room. If you flick two switches within about a second of each other, the latter one doesn't register the flick. They exhibit this behavior regardless of whether you're turning them on or off. If you wait a sec between flipping the switches, they work pretty well.
