5 out of 5 stars Quality for the price   November 6, 2009

This is a powerful bench grinder. It is a good product for a fraction of the cost. I would recommend this to everybody. I love it.

5 out of 5 stars Grizzly bench grinder works great   October 3, 2009

Thhe grinder was received very quickly. The first job was sharpening my riding mower blades. the machine had plenty of power and ran smoothly without any wobbling at all.

4 out of 5 stars simple tool simple money   September 8, 2009

worth the time and money. A simple tool..does just what it was designed to do. Easy start..slow and builds speed as it is designed to do. The grinding stones are fine enough to get your tool steel close to be honed. Nice weight.

3 out of 5 stars Cheap components   August 17, 2009

I wanted a cheap bench grinder for the occasional sharpening and grinding project. I have used other Grizzly tools and thought that they were decent quality, so I took a chance with this $25 grinder. Now that I have it, I understand why it was so cheap. First, I would like to say that you typically get what you pay for, so I was not expecting a shop-quality piece of equipment. The first thing I found when I removed the grinder from the box was that the base was loose. I thought, "no problem, just tighten the screws." Only the soft machine screws stripped when tightened. The same thing happened when I tightened the screws holding the loose switch to the base housing. Finally, when I was installing the tool rests, I experienced the same problem with the mounting screws. It seems that the screws on this unit are very soft and are prone to stripping when fully tightened (and I'm not talking ham-fisted, full effort straining either). Fortunately, I had some extra screws in my handy peanut butter jar that I was able to use as replacements. In defense of the grinder, I have to say that it runs very smoothly and quietly with no wobble in either wheel. I will bog down if you try to take off too much material or press too firmly against the wheel.

5 out of 5 stars For a 24.95 price tag it is a 5 star grinder!   June 5, 2009

Well yes even though I am about to complain I gave this 5 stars. Why? Because it was $24.95, I expected to pay that much for shipping quite frankly. While on the subject... Shipping was VERY fast. I ordered after business hours so they shipped the next morning and even with ground shipping I got it in 2 days. Shipping cost was a very reasonable 7.70 but shipping will vary depending on your proximity to their warehouse.

The grinder will do light grinding jobs as long as you don't get to aggressive with it. I did just sharpen my lawn mower blade and taking my time it did fine. Lean on it a bit and the 1/3 horse motor shows its shortcomings.

As for construction, it's better than you would expect for 24.95 with one glaring exception. The grinding wheels themselves are very poor. They will have to be dressed on the grinding edge AND the side, they wobble in both directions. I am hoping I can loosen the wheel nut and straighten up some of that wobble... well see.

I like the design of the protective housings, you can remove them easily to use a larger wheel/buffing disk if needed.

Again for light work this is a fine grinder, for medium or heavy work you will want more horsepower, better wheels and heavier built tool rests
