Amazon.com Review It couldn't be any easier than this: a cordless hand saw that cuts wood, metal, drywall, plastic, rope and more. We like it for its grab-it-and-go convenience and because it doesn't balk at wood that's up to an inch thick. It's perfect for taming overgrown bushes and stray branches, but it also makes quick work of PVC pipes, vinyl gutters, wire shelving, wallboard, craft projects and a hundred other things. It's small and light enough for even the most petite among us to grasp it firmly with just one hand, leaving your other free. Of course, we like bells and whistles, but sometimes, a straightforward tool like this one is the easiest to use. Just keep it in its wall-mountable charger, then grab it when you need it. Even changing blades is a fast and easy task because it's tool-free. It's powered by a 6-volt battery and delivers a surprising 1,850 strokes per minute with a 1/2-inch stroke length, and best of all, it doesn't require fancy blades - just standard jigsaw blades. Homeowners and do-it-yourselfers will really like this little saw.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste What's in the Box Handisaw, wood cutting blade, metal cutting blade, wall-mountable charger

Perhaps I go a lemon -- or perhaps these are just wimpy! October 30, 2009 Bobby (in Maryland) (USA) I am happy with other Black & Decker cordless tools I have purchased through Amazon.com (and I love Amazon.com), so I ordered this cordless saw. Unfortunately, this saw would run for only a very short period of time (10 minutes?) -- and took hours to re-charge. I ended up sending it back and buying (again, from my favorite online store - Amazon.com) a saw with a cord -- the Bosch Model 1640VS "Finecut" saw. It was much more expensive, and for some folks it might not be as useful as a cordless reciprocating saw, and the blades are not cheap -- but I am hopeful the Bosch will take care of my needs.
Awesome battery life and perfect for odd jobs October 28, 2009 N. Corrieri (USA) After hacking through 3 walk in shelving systems, i bought this. It made quick work of trimming shelves.
I use it a lot and barely ever charge it. In fact, I moved over a year ago, and busted it out of storage and it still had a charge!
Best thing of all, its cheap. I use it for things I shouldnt. This halloween, I carved an awesome pumpkin with it. The guards doe make it hard to make precise cuts, but something like this i didnt need to worry about having the object move, so it was awesome for this.
Things I cut with it:
Landscaping bamboo poles
Closetmaid shelving (metal)
Plastic parts that are a pain
and my new favorite: Pumpkins!
Just think of how many stupid pumpkin carving kits we buy and break every year. Now we can just use this bad boy for 90%
Oh yeah, as other said, its a joke for real construction work. For lumber, etc, I use my Dewalt 10 amp recip.
Good for small hands! October 24, 2009 VTS (Philadelphia, PA United States) I am a woman with small hands and previously used a sawsall and found it intimidating. I can grip this saw with one hand (but hold it with two for safety reasons). Easy to load and switch out blades. It is lightweight but very versatile- I've used it to cut up wood paneling, prefab trim and cut branches on shrubs and other greenery without any stalling. On switch is activated with gripping the handle and pressing a button on top- appreciate that safety feature.
It's Really a Mini Reciprocating Saw September 27, 2009 A. Kalker (Western Massachusetts) I just bought the CHS6000 Black and Decker Cordless Powered Hand Saw from a local Big Lots, charged it up, and used it to saw through a chubby tree limb. I discovered that it really was a mini reciprocating saw because it bouned around unless I pressed it against the limb. Hoowever, I got the saw to encircle the limb and VOILA, it cut right through! The limb was 1 1/2 -2" thick, but the little "saw" cut right through with a clean and smooth cut. What a thrill! I will try it on more tricky cuts soon, such as the "pocket cutting" described on page 8 of the manual. I cannot say how precise I could be with the reciprocating shield design, but, I could see around the shoe. The package came with two "jig saw" blades. The wood one, a 10 TPI, is 3 1/2" long and has a "u" mount. The metal one is a 14 TPI, measures 2 1/2" long and has a "t" mount. The whole unit is quite light and easy to handle; a fact my stressed out hands appreciate!
Why would anyone buy this? August 30, 2009 P. Orosco (Santa Monica, CA USA) I feel bad for the person at B&D that had to sign off on this product. This saw only cuts SOFT wood, the kind that is just as easy to slice through the a dull hand saw. I cannot ever cut thin dry bamboo with it! B&D should have to pay a carbon tax for the materials used to produce this worthless plastic garbage.
