The heat gun arrived promtly. It didn't feel like the highest quality part, but it didn't feel like it would fall apart or melt itself either. Lots of accessories for different uses. Two settings, and definatly get the job done for just about anything that needs alot of heat

This is a fantastic set- A must buy if you want a entry level heat gun- You will find there is a lot you can do with this- I bought to fix my xbox 360 and it worked, but found other things to use it for.

I bought this heat gun to remove badly damaged fake vinyl "veneer" on an old Pioneer TX6800 FM tuner. I read on an audio blog an entry that advised using a heat gun and a putty knife. This "veneer" was on top of particle board on the sides and what looks like low grade mahogany plywood on top. I was worried about the particle board crumbling and getting pulled off with the adhesive. I was also worried about the plywood splitting on the top piece.
None of my worries materialized. I used the low heat setting and pointed it close to the vinyl. As soon as I could see bubbles under the vinyl, I gently pushed a very sharp putty knife through it; it was like slicing butter. There was a little bit of a learning curve to get the technique just right, but it all came off very quickly. I was done in less than a half hour.
As my father would say, "it worked slick as a whistle."
