Variable-Speed Motor with Integrated Soft-Start
The M12V2's powerful 15 Amp motor produces top-of-class cutting speed to rout through hardwoods with ease. The motor also features soft-start technology, producing 3/4 peak horsepower while reducing torque during startup.

Equipped with an electronic variable-speed dial, the M12V2 produces 8,000 to 22,000 RPM, so you can tackle a wide range of cutting applications in a wide range of materials. The variable-speed dial is conveniently located on the handle so you can finely adjust the rotation speed without taking your hands or eyes off your workpiece.

Easily Customizable Router Meets All Your Needs
The M12V2 has many features that are customizable to your needs. To start, a unique quick and fine adjustment knob combines both functionalities into the same mechanism, so you can quickly and accurately dial the right plunge depths for the job.

Additionally, the router easily converts to table use for larger projects--the collet chuck protrudes 6mm from the upper side of the table for easy bit changes. For further flexibility on the job, 1/4-inch and 1/2-inch collets are included with the router. The collet chuck secures bits into the armature shaft for maximum hold during operation.

Ergonomically Designed for Comfort and Control
Like all Hitachi tools, the M12V2 is ergonomically designed to enhance comfort and control on the job. For beginners, this tool weighs only 13.9 pounds, making it safe and stable enough for freehand routing. Additionally, the handles are wrapped in Elastomer compound to reduce vibration and prevent slippage for ultimate control. For further ease of use, an included dust guide keeps dust and debris away from the cutting surface, so you get all the visibility you need to make clean, accurate cuts.

The M12V2 Plunge Router is backed by Hitachi's industry-leading five-year limited warranty.

3 out of 5 stars No problem with the power.   October 16, 2009
Caroline J. Glaze (littletown, co)
I have no problem with the power of this router, but the height adjustment is a joke. The screw threads on the height asjustment shaft, when you turn the lever over to the fine adjustment position, the spring presure pushes the router all the way out. The threads all stripped out the first time I used it. The power, like I said, is fine, the router is quiet, nice router, beyond the fine height adjustment problem.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome Router   September 21, 2009
James K. Steffeck (seattle, wa usa)
This router cuts through almost anything without hesitation. If you have a big job or just want a tool with lots of power, this is the one.

5 out of 5 stars Works great, hidden above table height adjustment   December 19, 2008

My wife bought the router for me 2 years ago for christmas. I got it as a dedicated router for a router table cabinet I was adding to my table saw. Prior to receiving the router I fretted about whether or not to add a router lift and finally decided to wait and see how much of a hastle it would be to deal with under the table adjustment given the cost of most router lifts. As I removed the sub-base to attach the router to the table insert, I noticed a lock nut on the bottom of the height adjustment shaft. I turned the nut using a socket wrench (sorry, don't remember what size) and it seemed to turn the height adjustment shaft easily. I figured I had nothing to lose, so drilled a hole in the phenolic router table insert large enough to slip the socket through to make above the table adjustments. I've been using this router regularly for the past two years and the height adjustment using this method has always performed flawlessly, and it didn't cost me a thing. I've never used this router other than in my router table, so I can't comment on some of the problems others have encounterted. But if you're looking for a work-horse for your router table, I would give this one my highest recommendation.

4 out of 5 stars Not Perfect, best bang for your buck   July 5, 2008
Chuck (Wherever the Army Sends me, USA)
Ill start by saying that I have 2 of these and one 2 base Hitachi kit (KM12VC) and am very pleased with all of them. As others have noted there are some plastic parts that are a little disappointing, but none of mine have broken so far. I have one mounted and the other for freehand use. The edge guide seems very high quality, but the 1/2 inch collet seems a little thin walled, although I have not noticed the chatter that others have. The dust collection is a nice feature, but doesnt work as well as it could. It may not have the fit and finish of some of the far more expensive routers, but around 200, its price/ features cant be beat, and seeing that I paid much less for mine, I am quite happy. Watch for a sale that occurs quite often, I got the second one for less than 135 delivered, unbeatable for a 3 1/4 HP router.
