Well regulated heat November 16, 2009 Penny D. Hendry (Atlanta, GA) Our 50's style ranch has a 4 degree temperature varience from one end to the other, and of course the cold side is where the kids bedrooms are. With this thermostat on space heaters in their rooms they can be warm enough at night and comfortable during the day. It's helped us reclaim those rooms as a useful part of the house by not behind the heat curve by turning on the heater when we want to use the rooms and waiting for it to be the right temperature. The programming was easy, just like the house thermostat.
Cheaply made November 16, 2009 Charles C. Jeffcoat (Dallas, TX) Well I bought this to control a 400W IR heater that I placed up high in my sons room so he could not get to it. The relay in this thing welded shut the very first time it turned on. I am an electrical engineer so I just fixed it myself. The relay is a bit too small in my opinion, but it should not have had any problem with a 400W heater. I installed a larger relay and it has been working great ever since. The control part works really well but I suspect the relay will eventually go out even on one that works right.
WIN100 Heating and Cooling Thermostat November 8, 2009 Scott Mcintosh (Montana) This is an excellent product. I have two of them now and rely on their accuracy.
Not disappointed.... November 7, 2009 D. Philip (Victoria, BC Canada) This thermostat/timer is almost exactly what I was hoping for. It functions as designed, however, not everyone's weekly schedule fits into weekdays and weekends. It would be ideal if it had more options to program more precisely, i.e., by day of the week rather than M-F and Saturday & Sunday together as some sort of traditional weekend. Many working people work irregular days of the week.
In one month, cut my electric bill in half ! Awesome. October 22, 2009 The Auditor (Blizzard Country USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased 4 of these units for the 4 electric (analog, not digital) radiators I use in my house for living room, bedroom, bathroom & kitchen.
Electric bills are financially crippling in the Upper Midwest if you're trying to heat (electric heat) a poorly insulated, single pane windowed, 134 yr old 2 story home. My monthly average plan (year round) runs 182.00 per month. (this is for 1 person!)
I plugged these units in a little more than a month ago, and waited to see the electric bill compared to last year this time to review.
This year's temperatures averaged 2 degrees cooler the past month than last year. Here's the difference these programmable thermostats have made.
1. Having the rooms actually warm during the time I use them, and programmed to be cold when I'm not using them? I'm actually WARM for a change. No need to kill electricity when I'm not using certain rooms, or the wallet for that matter
2. Kilowatts? I went from over 1100kwh used during this time last year, to 552 kwh for the same time frame this year. COOL. er, I mean, WARM.
3. Having the rooms I'm currently using actually be really warm, with the heat cranked up, being much more comfortable than the last few years, AND cutting my electric bill in half at the same time? PRICELESS. Actually, you CAN put a price on it. A much lower price in your electric bill, and much higher comfort level @ the same time.
Total time out for 4 of these to pay for themselves? About 5-6 weeks in Minnesota. Can't wait to see how much I can save in a few weeks when the blizzard season is upon us.
And yes, easy to program, easy to follow instructions, and about 8 days from order to delivery. Everything arrived in perfect condition, and I just love that I'll be contributing less $$ to my power company's Lexus fleet fund.
If you want to be warmer, and want half the bill? Get these programmable thermostats, and use with the cheap analog oil-filled electric radiators. Way warmer than a few years ago when I ran my furnace (300 a month before fuel) with LP which was running me around 5-600 per month when it was just over a dollar a gallon). Oh, and thousands cheaper than the furnace/LP days, and about half of the electricity I used last year with the radiators. I should buy stock in this company. There's an idea, buy stock with the $ I save in electric bills.
6 stars.
