All-Enclosed Steel Base Cabinet for Stability
The JJ-6CSDX comes with an all-steel enclosed base cabinet. An integral tab at each end of the cabinet bottom makes it easy to secure the jointer to the floor whenever a suitable surface is available. This cabinet also provides a stable platform and puts the table surface at a comfortable 31-1/4 inches above the floor.Fan-Cooled Motor for Consistent Performance
The base cabinet also houses the 1 HP, 1 phase 115/230-volt TEFC (totally enclosed fan cooled) motor (pre-wired 115-volt) and wiring to help isolate those components from the dust-prone jointer environment. A large door on the rear of the base cabinet provides easy access to the motor, which spins the JJ-6CSDX cutterheads at a very consistent 6000 RPM for a desirable balance between speedy material removal and a silky-smooth surface on the wood.
Long Cast-Iron Table for Better Accuracy
The JET JJ-6CSDX features a long, cast-iron table with a smooth, flat precision-machined finish that keeps the wood sliding predictably while ensuring accuracy. Measuring 55-3/4 x 7-3/8 inches, this table makes straightening large project pieces accurate and reliable. Additionally, the overall cut capacity of 6-1/16 x 1/2 inches (WxD) can keep up with even the most active of home wood shops. Finally, the outfeed tables have built-in 1/2-inch rabbeting ledges that add a little more versatility to the jointer.
Handwheels for Easy Adjustments; Automatic Limiter for Safety
Both the infeed and outfeed tables feature Jet's exclusive front-mounted handwheels to make table height adjustments easy and accurate. And for safety and protection, an automatic limiter on the infeed table prevents the operator from accidentally taking overly aggressive cuts deeper than 1/8 inch. For added convenience, the depth limiter can be manually overridden easily but requires the operator to intentionally release it.
Steel Cutterhead with Three Knives for Long Life
The JJ-6CSDX uses a precision-machined steel cutterhead fitted with three high-quality knives measuring 6 1/6 x 3/4 x 5/64 inches (WxLxD). These knives have two cutting edges that effectively double their life, and they are aligned using Jet's exclusive auto quick-set system. A pair of cams at each knife actually adjusts the knife height. Once set, the cams are locked in position and the knives can be reversed or replaced without having to reset the height, eliminating the need for a knife-setting gauge.
Additionally, precision-machined pockets in the knives let you slip them onto the cams, thus retaining the setting. The openings in the knives are also wide enough that individual knives can be offset to compensate for a nick, further extending the life of each knife edge.
User-Friendly Features for Easy, Pleasant Operation
Designed to be an easy-to-operate, helpful addition to your shop, the JJ-6CSDX features a two-way tilting fence with positive stops at 45 and 90 degrees to handle bevel operations, as well as industrial push-button controls conveniently placed for easy access. Finally, a built-in dust chute with four-inch port connects to your collection system for efficient dust and chip disposal.
