SUNCAST SNOW ROOF RAKE November 9, 2009 Larry Deemer (Spokane, WA) I have not used the product yet (not enough snow) but I have assembled it and put it through a dry-run. I have no reason to think it would not work well in actual deep snow conditions. It is light weight/maneuverable but sturdy, head made of the right materials (gray polycarbonate = lexan, right?), poles are right length for most single-story buildings and would even clear several feet of most two story roofs, head width/depth/contour strikes me as being perfect, and coating on lower pole is a nice touch. Could it be improved? Yes. I would add a couple of removable assist handles for the poles and possibly a hinged, solid lexan top plate to control the depth of the cut into the snow. I plan to use it on a two story flat roof by adding a flexible section of pole. Hope it works!
go away snow! October 10, 2009 catlover101 (Quincy, MA) This shovel is as advertised but it's a bit tough to use. The longer you make the pole, the more unwieldy it is. You need to shovel small amounts at a time and have some upper body strength to do more than a small roof at any one time.
WARNING: do not order from these folks if there is any chance you will be a day or two late in requesting a refund March 12, 2009 Amelia Cohn (Massachusetts) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
COMPANY COMPLETELY INSENSITIVE TO CUSTOMER SITUATION
I ordered an item (roof rake) from them because I had a leak that I thought was coming from the roof. Instead and I realized this by the time the item arrived, it was coming from inside the house. So I did not need the rake and it remained unopened and in the box.
I had to go away for a few days and did not note that their return period was 2 WEEKS rather than the Amazon usual 1 month (flexible and in fact companies are usually flexible on this issue because they realize that stuff happens to the less-than-perfectly organized consumer). In any case the company and I have a disagreement about the date of arrival of the item and they may be right since I was away for a couple of days and found it when I returned. So I may have contacted them 2 days outside the two week period. Despite my explanations and assurance that the item is unused and in fact unopened they have categorically refused to take it back for refund. I have rarely encountered the patronizing obtuseness with which they have responded to my communications. I would never never order anything from them again and urge Amazon customers to do the same! and to watch out as well to conditions of sale from vendors selling through Amazon that are far more prejudicial to the consumer than those of Amazon itself.
I don't know how the star system works but I would rate this company and one never never to buy from!!
prevent ice dams March 9, 2009 D. Denney (Akron.Oh. USA) I had ice dams forming in my gutters and I had seen an article in the paper about roof brooms or rakes when used properly eliminating this problem. Your product was rated pretty high on the web so I sent for one to give it a try,I was very impressed with the ease of use of the product. Yes the pole when fully extended does tend to bend a little but it's really not a problem, I have a ranch house and was able to extend all the way up to the ridge vent and pull the snow down and off the roof. My ice dams were cleared up in just a few days,I'm ready for the next snow with my new whiz bang roof rake.No more ice dams for me:)
