| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description A handsome light bulb found in many lamps and fixtures at the turn of the century. These are authentic re-creations of Thomas Edison's original carbon filament bulbs. Whether your Victorian chandelier or lamo is authentic or a reproduction the warm nostalgic glow these special bulbs create is breathtaking. All light bulbs feature standard bases and are designed for standard 110-125 current.

| Customer Reviews: These are just plain cool! November 27, 2008 robert johnston (Los Angeles) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
You may have to be a techie to appreciate these carbon filament reproductions. I just enjoy the original electric light look and feel ... the soft, orange-yellow glow in the hand blown, imperfect, Edison style vacuum chambered tradition.
These are best enjoyed in an antique desk fixture with a straight Arrow socket. Straight Arrow sockets have the smooth feel of turning up a gas light and were contemporary with the carbon filament bulb ... no click, just a smooth transition from off to on ... you can find an old fixture on e-Bay for $20.
As a note, the wattage ratings on these 'next generation from gaslights' seem understated. A 30w is more than a modern nite light, but not much. I use the 30w as ambient light in my office and I'd describe it as a bright candle-like affect. I have a 60w as an outdoor side light in a transparent glass fixture. You'd be wasting your effort if you plan to use one in a translucent fixture. They just don't throw off the comparable light of modern tungsten filaments, but they absolutely create a unique light your ancestors could appreciate. I'd suggest doubling the wattage of the carbon filament bulb to get close to the tungsten equivalent you might be replacing ... even then, you may not get the equivalent light spread. Enjoy!
