Product Description Top Handle Jigsaw With 6.5A, 4 Stage Orbital Action, 3 Way Blade Clamping System Firmly Grasps T-Shank Blades, Lever Activated Blade Change System With Ejector, Variable Speed Control Dial, Adjustable Dust Blower & Tool-Less Foot Adjustment.
Amazon.com When we first heard of barrel grip jig saws, we were pretty skeptical about the comfort and control they could offer, since we were so accustomed to the typical top-handle design. It really was a genuine surprise to feel the difference. The control is amazing, and cutting scrollwork is an absolute delight with this saw, something we can't honestly say about most top-handle models. With this design, it almost feels as if the cutter is an extension of your hand, smooth and responsive. The blade-change system on this Bosch is among the best we've seen: They weren't kidding when they named it the One Touch Blade Change. We like the speed range, from 500 all the way up to 2,800 strokes per minute to handle whatever you need to cut, and the cutting line actually stays clean because of the integrated, adjustable blower (which, we have to say, works better at higher speeds). With the barrel design, there's no trigger; instead, the speed is controlled by a dial on the rear of the tool body. It's a tad clumsy at first when you're used to trigger-controlled speed, but it's a learning curve, and it's worth it.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

Very good for a DIY guy November 6, 2009 John R. Petit I agree with all the positive comments, and yes, the tool gets a little warm
but not hot. Low vibtration level. The cord is long and flexible and the
case has plenty of room
for extra blades (no shoehorning the tool and cord into it). Since I'm a
hacky DIY type, it was nice that the blade is exactly 1.5 inches from each
edge of the shoe. Makes measuring so much easier for simpletons such as
myself.
Best jigsaw I have owned October 27, 2009 Mark (Oklahoma City, OK United States) The title says it all. This is the best jig saw I've owned. It's not the best I've ever used ... I have to give that honor to Festool's jigsaw, which my brother owns and which I was strongly considering purchasing. But at $100 or $200 less than the going price for Festool's product, I have no regrets whatsoever about purchasing this one instead.
As a number of reviewers have mentioned, the saw does get hot but I don't feel that it is uncomfortably or excessively so. Also, the blade is SO easy to change and I really appreciate the steering precision I seem to gain by gripping the body of the saw rather than an integrated handle, as on the other model. Finally (and most importantly) it feels absolutely solid and the blade stays very straight and true throughout the cut, which is both a relief and a pleasure.
I previously owned a Dewalt jigsaw that I despised and subsequently never, ever used (fyi, I generally have nothing but good things to say about Dewalt tools ... I own many that I use day in and day out). Nevertheless, it was such a joy to finally do away with that older jigsaw and get my hands on this one! I count it among my most-prized and best-built tools!
Powerful, precise September 14, 2009 G. LYON (Wash., DC USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'd used a Bosch 1584 for a year or so in an open sculpture studio, so when I decided to buy, I got the 1591, which is similar. The 1591 has a simplified blade change mechanism that is handy when switching rapidly from steel to wood and back.
The saw is comfortable to use, much more powerful than entry-level offerings, and well-designed for accurate cutting of sheet steel (usually 16 gauge for my projects). The 1591 cuts pine boards smoothly and the angle setting holds (not always true for cheaper jig saws). One can work very rapidly with this power tool; in addition, the carrying case has handy extra space for different blades, guides, etc.
Highly recommended.
Better than advertized August 31, 2009 H. M. Harris (Jacksonville, FL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am particularly happy with this model. I especially like the barrel grip/low center of gravity. It operates very smoothly. I had a very old Craftsman before this one. The new features (i.e., quick blade change, blower, and blade clamping system) make this tool a dream to use.
Great jigsaw August 2, 2009 Robert Chapman This is the best jigsaw that I have ever owned. The barrel grip is much more controllable that the handle on top style. The blade loading and extraction is as easy as it could be - simply slip the blade in and it locks - slide the blade release lever and the blade drops out of the saw. The saw operation is smooth with little vibration and plenty of power. A great jigsaw!
