This thing is a HOSS! April 19, 2009 S. M. Comstock (Forney, Tx United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this planer to replace a Makita that recently gave up the ghost in my cabinet shop. The Bosch has exceptional power and is easily controllable. I use tools for a living and this one impresses me.
nice but.. January 3, 2009 J. N. Trucking Inc. (Portland,OR) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Nice tool, I have always been pleased with Bosch tools, but where it is reconditioned, it came with no blades in the tool or the package. Had to go buy blades before I could use it.
Planing window extensions December 23, 2008 Todd C. Hargraves (St. Ignace, Mi) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this planer to trim back the top and side extensions of a bay window to the interior drywall. The planer looked like new and the and the cutting blades appeared to be new. I had never used a power planer before so I practiced on a couple pieces before planing the window. I set the blades to only take 1/64 per pass and did multiple passes to get even with the drywall surfaces. I found that holding the little lever on the rear shoe out of the way allowed me to contact the wood more precisely.
The mess was minimal, the bag catches most of the chips. It doesn't take much time to get familiar with this planer. Ready for casings.
Nice equipment, nice price! September 16, 2008 C. Day (Central Coastal CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My hubby and I are building some lawn furniture, and it is so nice to be able to bevel the edges of the boards for comfort with this planer! This is the second piece of Bosch equipment we've purchased and the quality is excellent. Don't be afraid of the refurbished - we couldn't tell this one from new when opened. It has a nice hardshell plastic case for storage too.
Not for doors August 26, 2008 J. Michel (Oakland, CA USA) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
What I should say is: It is not for a door expert. The planer is great but the bevel guide adjusts in the opposite direction from most "door" planers. This is a problem because if you have the door on a saw horse, you will have to flip the door over to get the bevel going the correct way. Also then your marks would be on the opposite side if you mark on the high side. Otherwise is very nicely made.
