Great power, high output November 20, 2009 Nerdhead (San Francisco, CA) Bought a set of DeWalt tools, which included two XRP 14.4v batteries and a charger over four years ago. I didn't really use the set much until the last two years, when I suddenly had a couple of backyard projects. These batteries pack quite a charge, and provides plenty of power and duration, especially for the reciprocating saw and trim saw. Unfortunately, last weekend one of the batteries died out and wouldn't take a charge anymore (it's been on the wane for a couple months before that). I'm hoping the other one will continue to work, but now I'm stuck with only one working battery.
I've had these units for more than four years, so I can't complain about one dying. While I agree that these batteries are excellent, and should be priced accordingly, I'm not sure they need to be quite that expensive. There are companies that'll rebuild the battery pack, typically with longer-lasting sub-C cells, for less than the cost of a new one (but admittedly not by much). Based on trade reviews, the rebuilds either meet or exceed specifications, and I'm leaning that way not so much for the cost savings, but for the extended runtime.
So, in summary, these are absolutely great batteries. The NiCad technology is proven, dependable, and is suited well for high drain devices, such as tools. However, given the relative cost and simplicity of manufacturing a unit, you should be able to get more performance for less from a reputable battery rebuilder.
Dewalt 14.4 volt battery November 8, 2009 David Beaird (Iowa) The price for these batteries was very reasonable compared to the full price. I would recommend these to anyone needing new 14.4 volt Dewalt batteries.
Dewalt NiCad Pod October 23, 2009 Moises Bursztein (Westampton, NJ USA) Product works as good or better than the original. If your original NiCad requires frequent recharging you need to get a new one.
DeWalt replacement battery September 28, 2009 Michael T. Robinson I have only had praise for the DeWalt tools, the batteries last for several years. I am very happy with the tools....
Power battery for drill July 4, 2009 Charles B. Stauffer (LA, CA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
What is there to say about a battery for a drill? Either it works or it doesn't. This is DeWalts top of the line battery for my drill. Do I take it on vacations with me? No! Do I take it to social events? No! Do I take it to bed with me? No! Like any other battery of its class, it goes on and one and on until it needs charging!
