Product Description Milwaukee's heavy-duty, 3 1/2 max hp fixed-base production router features a powerful 15 amp Milwaukee-built motor with electronic variable speed. To ensure a consistent, quality finish, the 36-position speed dial allows the user to precisely match the tool rpm to the bit diameter while the premium electronic feedback circuitry maintains speed and power under load. Fully-loaded for production free-hand and router table routing, the router features Milwaukee's exclusive linear height adjustment system with above-the-table access, providing fast, precise coarse adjustments to within 1/8in. and micro-fine adjustments to within 1/64in. A heavy-duty, 22 amp switch and speed control dial positions are conveniently located to allow the operator full motor control while keeping both hands on the tool. The router features a durable, machined aluminum motor housing and base along with 100% sealed ball bearings and a durable 8 ft. power cord.
Amazon.com A production woodworker's dream router, Milwaukee's 3-1/2-horsepower router will handle any bit you give it. Mounted in a table, this unit can take even the place of an expensive shaper for many applications--it's that powerful. The soft start is surprisingly smooth, given the enormous heft of this machine. The design is smart, too. The motor is stationary as you raise and lower it, so the the power cord doesn't wrap around anything. Better yet, everything can be adjusted from above your router table top. Milwaukee's exclusive linear height adjustment system gets you precise adjustments to within 1/8 of an inch and micro-fine adjustments to within 1/64 of an inch with the turn of a knob. When using the unit freehand, you'll love the tilted handles, an innovation Milwaukee's competitors should adopt. The slight angle gives you the superior control you need when using a router this powerful, all the way up to the max rpm of 22,000 rpm.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

Made in China November 21, 2009 Just Bob again (USA somewhere) Two hundred and seventy five bucks. A Chinese router in a cardboard box with two wrenches for two hundred and seventy five bucks. I hope the motor lasts a while. I got it to use in a table. The base is cheezy. Very thin aluminum casting. The height adjustment is very cheap. A plastic half-nut. The height adjustment through the table is useless. The put a PLASTIC male hex on the end of the threaded adjuster screw. That's gonna last a week. For the price, they could afford a thrust bearing on the screw and cut a steel hex on the end. Nope. Hard to adjust.
Milwaukee isn't what it used to be. They're coasting on their reputation.
Milwaukee Router Table Review October 21, 2009 Ellen J. Ferraro (Texas) I read several reviews on the Milwaukee and wanted a fixed based router for my router table. I also wanted a router with ample power. The Milwaukee fit the bill. Its reviews gave it good reliability and plenty of power. I also liked the quaility of the collet tools and the ability to use 1/4" or 1/2" collets. Its electronic speed control and soft start work great and rpm is consistent no matter how fast or how hard I feed the router. I have not done any raised panels with it yet but hope to do so in the coming weeks. That will be the real test but I doubt it will give this router any trouble. It seems to have plenty of power to spare. I replaced my Porter Cable router with the Milwaukee. The PC should have lasted longer, IMO and so I switched. The Milwaukee still supports my PC bushings so no added expense there. I upgraded to the V2 Woodpecker precision router lift at the same time. This negated the use of the table adjustable feature on the Milwaukee. I had heard that the plastic bits for this operation are not as reliable. I replace the router table top at the same time, as well. I went with the Woodpecker 27"x43" table top. It is specifically designed to support my existing Incra Ultra router fence.
A fixed router really does not need a lot of features. It just needs to be powerful and reliable. It does have plenty of power. Now, I just hope it is as reliable as I have read. Time will tell.
Milwaukee 3.5 HP router delivers August 27, 2009 Richard Silver (South Africa) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Milwaukee 3.5 HP fixed-base router is everything I wanted. It replaced a Porter-Cable 2.25 hp machine that burned up while attempting to cut raised-panel doors. The Milwaukee has the power to drive a 3 inch diameter cutter and its feedback control holds the speed constant as the work is fed. If the work is fed too fast, the electronic control cuts off, preventing overheating of the motor. Resetting is easy; just back off the work and cycle the power off and then on again.
The router mounted to one of the standard sets of holes in my Bench Dog table insert without any drilling. I only had to drill a 3/4 inch hole where the socket T-handle wrench inserts from the top. This allows depth adjustment from the top side of the table. If you don't want to drill the extra hole, the router has a good micrometer-style depth adjustment easily accessed from below.
The catalog listing for this router is not very clear with respect to collets provided. It is shipped with just a 1/2 inch collet; if you want a 1/4 inch collet as well, it must be ordered separately.
Great fixed base high horsepower router, perfect for a router table! July 21, 2009 A. Doss (Los Angeles) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have used and loved the Dewalt 3 base router system. I left the fixed base in my bench top table and use the D-handle and plunge base for my hand-held work. But I wanted something with more power, over 3 HP to put into a larger cast iron table (MLCS makes a fairly solid unit)MLCS 9591 Rock Solid Heavyweight Router Table with Tilt-up Top. It was a toss-up between modifying the Freud or using the Milwaukee...I'm really glad I went with the Milwaukee.
It's a strong motor and, when mounted in the table, is easily adjusted (and the table is heavy enough to be comfortable when the router fires up...no vibration...rock solid). This combo borderlines on shaper....for a budget....but really results in clean "one pass" results and super clean "two pass" (where you adjust the cutting depth cut a little more with each pass).
This is a great, heavy duty router. One of the few fixed base units on the market....and one that's a great fit in a router table.
Great Router! June 18, 2009 M. Levesque (Germany) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this router as my very first after doing much studying. I bought this to install in a custom router table to be used with an Incra fence and Woodpecker lift. This router has seen limited use, but I have had good results with the work it has produced thus far. Effortless cutting through thick beech and maple. The two wrenches supplied for the collet are nice. I have used the router off the table and I like the base it was supplied with as well. Overall, a very nice tool.
