Amazon.com Product Description The DELTA JT160 Shopmaster 10 Amp 6-Inch Benchtop Jointer uses a variable speed motor and two-knife cutterhead configuration with jack-screw knife leveling arrangement for easy replacement and adjustments. The 30 x 6-3/16 inch table provides support for surfacing stock up to six inches wide, including soft woods, hard woods, and plastics. The speedy 10 Amp motor spins at 6,000-11,000 RPM, which makes the dual-cutter turn at 12,000-22,000 CPM. The center-mounted fence provides ample support throughout the cut for precise edge jointing, and it tilts out at 45 degrees for added versatility.

So far so good... February 8, 2010 William Lattanzio (Pa) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this as a closeout for only $100.00 so I cannot complain about anything. It is the perfect size for my small shop. The set up was fairly easy except for squaring the fence which took a little while. The table was pretty good right out of the box. I've used it to face and edge joint some smaller stock to make drawers and and small table top and it worked great. I kept the setting at about 1/32" and that was fine. I probably wouldn't go more than 1/8" even on soft pine. The dust/chip collection isn't all that great. I keep it on the edge of my bench with a trashcan positioned to capture the chips. My jointer was missing the push blocks out of the box; I contacted customer service and new blocks were sent out immediately. My biggest complaint would be the fence as it is only passable. Another reviewer mentioned making a new fence from MDF and I think that it's a great idea only I would veneer melamine or hardboard to the MDF.
I think this jointer will work fine for anybody jointing smaller stock (roughly 4ft or so and shorter) and if you keep your removal depth on the light side(which I think is good advice for any planer/jointer) It's a great size for a smaller shop. Even if I had paid full price I would feel satisfied with my purchase.
Owned for 7 years - still going strong! October 21, 2009 javajunki Excellent benchtop jointer. We purchased this about 7 years ago and it is still going strong. There are bigger ones, more expenssive models and those with a more bells and whistles but this is a great price, solid build and does what it is meant to do...for seven years. Completely satisfied with the purchase and recommend to anyone in need of a decent priced performer.
DISASTER June 30, 2009 Larry Weaver (SOUTH PADRE IS, TX) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I WENT THROUGH FOUR UNITS IN A PERIOD OF 2 WEEKS AND NONE OF THEM OPERATED PROPERLY. THEY EITHER CUT A TAPER OR PUT A LOW SPOT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BOARD ELIMINATING ANY KIND OF AN ACCEPTABLE JOINT. ALL FOUR UNITS WERE TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DELTA FACTORY SERVICE FACILITY WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THEY COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. THERE IS NO ADJUSTMENT ON EITHER TABLE OTHER THAN ELEVATION ON THE INFEED TABLE. ALL OF THE UNITS HAD ONE OR BOTH TABLES THAT WERE WARPED OR HAD UNEVENLY MACHINED MOUNTING BOSSES. THE OTHER PROBLEM WAS A FLIMSLY FENCE AND HORIZONTAL/VERTICAL ADJ. KNOBS THAT INTERFERE WITH EACH OTHER. I HAD NO PROBLEM GETTING REPLACEMENTS OR IN THE CASE OF THE LAST UNIT, A REFUND.
JT160 jointer May 21, 2009 Raybert C. Griffin Jr. Tool is fairly good for a jointer in this price range. it is powerfull enough to plain 6" rock maple without stalling (although at minimium stock removal)
Delta JT160 Shopmaster March 13, 2009 L. E. (Austin, TX) Good on small to mid size projects.
Nice speed controls. A bit loud on high speed but not too bad- wear protection.
