Amazon.com Review The Workmate 225 might be what's missing from your home shop. Its versatility makes it an especially ideal choice for those with limited shop floor space: Use it as a workbench, a bench tool stand, a vise, or a sawhorse; when the job's done, you can quickly break it down and store it out of the way. (Try that with a regular workbench!) Its portability is no small advantage: essentially, the Workmate lets you move your shop wherever you need it. The Workmate's legs fold under to provide the lower height and stability needed for use as a base for bench tools. Its all-steel construction and rubber feet ensure a stable, strong work surface that supports up to 450 pounds. And its independently adjustable jaws have two swivel pegs each, allowing you to hold almost anything. The Workmate 225 is Black & Decker's intro model. They also offer the Workmate 550, which is a little burlier, has a nice clamping device, and is more expensive. For light-duty, home shop use, though, the Workmate 225 is an excellent choice. --Tim Block

If Height Were Adjustable It'd Get 5 Starts September 22, 2009 Amazonian 2082 (Dreary Ohio) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Buy it anyways, but it would be nice to have it extend another foot so you could use it like saw horses. The more expensive model doesn't appear to be worth the money.
You should buy this instead of a temporary stand for your drill press, router table, grinder or table saw since they can easily be clamped to it. I'm sure DeWalt (aka Black & Decker) had that in mind.
They way the table locks into place concerns me, but it still held my drill press.
Cheaper at big blue. I've notice that on a few tools. Especially after a 10% off coupon.
Must Have Tool September 13, 2009 Fred (Sacramento, CA United States) I agree with the other 5 star ratings. I don't have a lot of space, so I am careful about the tools I get, especially the ones that need floor space. I am shocked because I wonder how I ever got along all these years without this portable work bench. In the first week, I used it as a vise for odd shape items to cut or sand. Then, as a "saw horse", for supporting freshly painted baseboards. The 4 legs fold in or out, so you can lower the work surface. When the legs are folded, the step is out of your way because it becomes part of supporting base. You get the idea. Highly recommended.

Although it won't wash the car, it has come in handy for various projects, and I'm glad I purchased it.

This is a very usefull tool. I have owned one for over 25 years and my son asked for one for Christmas. It folds and stores easily. It is very stabile and holds items securely. It will take an indredible amount of punishment. I would highly recommend it for anyone who is tight on space to a person who has a 6 car workshop. You can't miss.
