Product Description Imagine how much heat is lost through the small cracks and crevices in the patio door. During the cold winter months it is a good idea to insulate the door to cut down on your heating bill and eliminate drafts. Stops cold drafts and helps prevent frosty windows. Easy-to-install - requires only scissors and a hair dryer for installation. Safe application to aluminum, painted or varnished wood, or vinyl clad window moulding. Film wrinkles are removed with hair dryer. Double stick tape included.

Worth the extra cost November 17, 2009 R. L. Stiles (Chicago, IL USA) My condo in Chicago's West Loop is a corner unit in a factory rehab. The views are spectacular, but the 106"x56" windows that make up the entire east and south walls are a nightmare in the winter. I've used 4-5 brands of the window films, and by far the 3M product wins hands down. The Ace Hardware brand comes in a distant second place for its ease of installation, but if you truly want a clear view out of picture windows, stick with 3M. It's worth a bit of a premium. Word of advice, though, I found these for sixteen ninety-nine (not on sale) at most hardware stores in my area.
It serves it's purpose. November 15, 2009 Mycoft (Illinois) It serves it purpose but the 5 window package only covered 3 of our windows so we bought more. It is working out okay.
Great for painted woodwork May 5, 2009 San Fran (NE) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have tried both this brand and the "duck" brand (green packaging with a duck on it), and this is far superior. When I took the duck brand film off the windows, a whole strip of paint came with it (on both old and new paint). I put this over brand new semi-gloss latex paint in December and just took it off today with no problems whatsoever.
You can sure tell it's keeping cold air out by watching the window blind wands bobbing up and down against the film when it's windy out (you can cut a small hole in the film to thread the wand through so you can adjust the blinds). The film will probably stretch out a bit throughout the season if a lot of air is coming through your windows, but that doesn't affect its performance at all - just creates a few extra creases on the film.
I really like this product and recommend it completely. I was really worried that it would take up paint upon removal or that the tape wouldn't stick very well, but everything worked out great. I keep buying this stuff on clearance at the end of every season and will continue to do so.
It's keeping me warm right now March 2, 2009 The Doughboy (Atlanta, GA United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The package has all the pieces you need to seal your windows: plastic film and double-sided tape. You'll have to provide your own tools: scissors or an exacto knife and a hair dryer.
If you have unusually-sized windows (I do), I strongly advise measuring them and making sure you get enough plastic and tape to cover them. The product description indicates this item comes with a 62-inch by 210-inch sheet of plastic. You'll have to cut it to apply it to the windows.
I used this product to seal three very large windows in my home office. It's a chilly and poorly-insulated room, but it's been a lot better this winter, thanks to the window insulator kit.
From outside the building you can't tell the windows are sealed. From inside, you can see through the windows fine, but you can see a bit of excess plastic around the windows. It's very minor and is worth the trade-off to keep the room warmer.
Great Stuff! February 15, 2009 Tina T. Kirchoff (Panama City, FL) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We purchased this to insulate our old house during the winter. It was SO easy to apply and is working great. We set up an 'assembly line' process where my husband cleaned the edges where the tape went, put the tape on, then I cut the plastic and put it onto the windows. We did 8 windows in 2 hours! It sure beats the cost of replacement windows!
