Amazon.com Review For day in, day out drilling and driving in wood, steel, or plastic, there might not be a better tool than Milwaukee's Magnum hole shooter. The aluminum/magnesium alloy on the gear case cuts down on the tool's weight, and the glass-reinforced nylon handle makes it a bit lighter, too--but let there be no doubts: when it comes to results, this is the same heavy-duty, ridiculously powerful, no-nonsense tool it's always been. The shooter is built with a stacked design--meaning the drill's interior parts stack on top of each other--which makes replacing parts (like a switch) much easier to do as the whole drill doesn't need to be taken apart. The handle is designed so you can hold it two ways--either pistol-grip or with the palm of your hand resting on the top back portion--making the drill an extension of your arm. As a result, you can really get behind it while still easily reaching the trigger with your fingers. And the finger slots add comfort. The shooter's top-quality chuck is a Jacobs (the best). It's a two-handed chuck, which, for the types of applications this drill is built for, is exactly what you want. The carbon brushes are also easy to access and change. One of our favorite new features on this tool is the long and superflexible Quick-Lok cord. If the cord gets cut or damaged, you simply unplug the damaged cord and replace it with the cord from any other Quick-Lok Milwaukee tool. If you're looking for a serious, long-lasting drill, you can't go wrong here. Milwaukee's hole shooter is a very high-quality tool that will serve you for years and years and years. --Dori Anvinson

Very pleased for my first power tool! November 7, 2009 AP (Belmont, CA) So, the Milwaukee drill was my very first power tool. I am so proud of myself for looking on Amazon at all these glowing reviews and taking the plunge to buy it (and modest too). I've used it with various bits on wood (oak, birch, pine, plywood) and on clay to drill a hole in the bottom of a beautiful glazed clay pot that I wanted to turn into a planter. It worked SO well! It's kind of heavy for me - I am typically using it for repetitive tasks, but the support handle that comes with the drill works wonders to eliminate wrist fatigue. Putting the bits in is SO simple and the forward/reverse switch is conveniently located right next to the trigger. It's powerful - way more powerful than I have needed so far... Overall, I'm really glad I bought this drill.
The best corded drill I've ever owned. October 26, 2009 W. Dorland (Canada) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The Milwaukee Magnum corded drill is heavy and heavy duty. It is more substantial than the all plastic drills out there. It seems to have more of a gear reduction which relates into more power for those difficult drilling jobs. You can just feel the quality. I own a variety of Milwaukee tools and have no complaints about any one of them.
Best hand power drill I've ever used. September 10, 2009 Marvin E. Bowman (Cave Junction, Or USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm a senior citizen who worked in factories for 45 years and a do-it-yourselfer and this the best power drill I have ever used. Not high RPM but smooth, steady and just keeps on tickin'. I can understand using battery power when you're nowhere near an outlet but for around the house, give me this motor, an extension cord and a chuck key!!

Milwaukee #0234-1 Heavy Duty 1/2" Drill May 17, 2009 James Selman (Topanga, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Considering the state of our economy it is gratifying to be able to purchase a fine piece of American engineering that is actually manufactured here. This drill is superior to others manufactured with the Milwaukee name plate only, in terms of power (though only 5.5 amp.) and control. The variable speed trigger operates smoothly and the drill overall gives the impression of longevity common to products that have historically carried the Milwaukee nameplate since the days when it was a private company and not owned by a multinational.
