Amazon.com Product Description The American Lawn Mower Company 16-inch bent reel mower is a simple, efficient, and effective blade-and-reel mower, fueled by environmentally-friendly manpower and specifically designed to cut low-growing, creeping grasses. Made of durable tempered alloy steel with an unbreakable steel side plate, this 4-spider, 7-blade, ball bearing reel design gives you cutting heights ranging from 1/2 inch to 2-1/4 inches using the adjustable 7-section roller and 3-position adjustable wheel height. This mower features durable 10-inch composite wheels with radial tread tires and molded hub caps, 1-inch torsion bar frame, flare-style painted handles with cushioned grips, and a 16-inch cutting width for quick, maneuverable action. This mower can be put together quickly in 10 to 15 minutes.
Amazon.com Review American Lawn Mower's 16-inch bent reel mower is efficient and effective--no unnecessary attachments, no fancy gewgaws, just a serious blade-and-reel unit of tempered alloy steel with a few height adjustments for different levels of grass. The knife blades are sharp and strong, and, though the mower is light enough to carry, it's got enough heft for proper traction on slick grass. Assembly doesn't take long--10 or 15 minutes is about all. The handle cushions are cushier than on some other models and especially easy to put on--unfortunately, they come off as easily as they go on.

Great Lawn Reel Lawn Mower November 17, 2008 I found this to be great mower. Please note that if your grass is high, as mine was, the initial mow will be difficult, but do not be discouraged. The next mows were much better. I can now mow at anytime without disturbing my neighbors, and it is better for the environment.
Push Lawn Mower October 1, 2008 The 16" American Lawn Mower is perfect for my small lawn area. It's just like the old iron mower I pushed as a kid . . . but lighter and much, much easier to maneuver. Size, weight and quality are great. Appears to be American made.
Seems Fine! September 14, 2008 I have used the mower about 6 times now. It works perfectly. I use it to trim area close to my house. I have another reel mower for main yard. It cuts everything in sight! Don't forget to spray down with WD40 when done.
Terrific September 6, 2008 The instructions were so easy to follow and it was very easy to assemble. The lawn mower works great and was the cheapest one around. The delivery and the exchange was the easiest I've ever done. Thanks again. Will definitely find other items to order.
Frustrated in the extreme! August 27, 2008 I don't know what I could possibly be doing wrong, considering all the mostly favorable reviews for this mower. I had a really difficult time the first time I used it, but I had let the grass get too long and assumed that it would be easier next time. Well, no, not so much! It just about kills me trying to push this thing, regardless of how much grass has or has not grown. I frankly don't know one type of grass from another another but my lawn service told me I had bermuda, which was my reason for selecting this particular model. There does seem to be different types of grass in different spots, but no matter what type, this mower just won't go through it! I've adjusted the cutting height up and down and in the middle. I've adjusted the blades until I'm blue in the face. I've moved the height adjustment "bar" on the back to the highest and lowest and everything in between.
I so very much wanted this to work. I do care about the environment, and I wanted something that my grandson and I could "bond" over (he wanted to earn some video game money during the summer, and I thought we could do my yard together, but he can't push the darn thing either), and save the money I was paying the yard service (who did a crappy job anyway), but I've reached the end of my tolerance with this thing, and there's simply nothing else that I can adjust to try and make it work.
As a last resort, I think I'll put it in the driveway and run it over with my truck, and if that doesn't work, put it by the curb for the trash men.
