Amazon.com Review This Porter-Cable 2-horsepower, 6-gallon pancake compressor transports easily but has plenty of capacity and power--enough to support heavy use of brad and finish nailers and moderate use of framing nailers. This is an oil-free unit, and its advanced Teflon coating doesn't require maintenance--a big plus on the convenience scale. The 120-volt universal motor starts easily in cold weather and draws only 10 amps--so you won't have to worry about tripping breakers inside residential homes--and you can use it with an extension cord. Features include a high-flow regulator, an easy-to-read air pressure gauge, automatic thermal overload protection, an industrial-style quick-connect body in the air outlet, and a long-life motor with replaceable brushes. The compressor weighs 32 pounds and has a handle built into the motor housing, so it's relatively portable. This Porter-Cable is as convenient and easy to use as any compressor out there, and it's just about ideal for brad and finish nailers that are being used inside people's homes on a regular basis. --Jonathon Tudor

Get what you pay for July 16, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My nice shiny red compressor arrived in an undamaged box, and when I went to power it up- nothing happened. Instead of returning it, I opened the motor case up and found one of the brushes was not seated correctly. A 15 minute fix and I was back in business. Not terribly impressed by its "heavy duty" construction (suited for intermittent duty at best), but if it provides a year of service, it will have more than paid for itself.
Porter-Cable Pancake Compressor June 23, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bought it for small size and weight - took it out of the box, ran it for 5 min.It was very loud and ran hot!!! - motor craped out soon after need to return get my money back - will not buy this junk again THANKS A LOT!!!!
Good for home owner March 30, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This compressor does the job for a home owner doing some renovations, but I could certainly see not cutting it for a tradesman.
It's light - easy to lift with one hand. Easy to store.
It's loud. It's slow. The low CFM means it takes a long time to get up to pressure, and when you are operating your tool, it will be running a lot of the time.
Real problems at altitude March 26, 2007 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
Since making the transition from mostly framing to mostly finish (and working on huge houses with tons of stairs), I figured I'd get a compressor that weighed less than 60+ pounds... I had never seen this P/C compressor on a job but it looked perfect for what I wanted- just something that would keep up with a finish gun. It appeared to be a nice, light package, but it ran forever, got really hot, leaked (oilless?), smelled like it was about to fry and as nearly every other reviewer has noticed, it is REALLY LOUD. I sent it back before it crapped out, no thanks. A cabinet installer showed up with the same model and the same complaints. It's a good idea but doesn't work - perhaps at lower elevations it might (job in question was at 10,000'). In addition, although it seems a lot of people review the P/C nailguns favorably, I've seen more of them thrown out windows & hurled at floors (by the younger guys) and sent back over and over for repairs - than anything else. Save yourself the headache - get a Hitachi framer / Hitachi or Senco finish gun.
Its Really Really loud! February 1, 2007 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
The price was very good for about the largest compressor that runs on a regular 115 wall socket.
It is missing a decent handle to pick it up with.
It is REALLY REALLY loud!
