 Cute game but most 3 yr olds can't manuever a Wii remote March 6, 2010

I give JumpStart 2 thumbs up for trying but the reality is most 3 or 4 yr olds can't manuever the Wii remote in these type games. My 3 almost 4 year old can beat just about anyone at Wii sports bowling and boxing but she can not manuever the remote in these childrens games (too much mandatory moving for this age child). Don't waste your money...Wait until their a bit older then buy them games for the Wii. My Child lost interest trying to get the remote where it needed to be before she even got 5 minutes into the game she was handing the remote to me asking me to do it for her (where is the learning experience in that?)

1st let me start by saying that I am a previous JumpStart product user(pc edition)...I recently purchased this product for my 3yr old daughter to play on wii and i am quite pleased with it...It very easy for your child to play, I don't know if it is just my 3yr old but after showing her what keys to press and how to toggle from game to game she can't stop playing it! Its got all the components most toddlers enjoy music, shapes, letters, numbers, and most important to my daughter animals! the graphics are very colorful, the activities are interesting, and I would definately reccommend it!(its way better than the pc version)

My grandson loves this game! Not too many games are geared towards 3+ years of age for Wii. I found this one and it's really easy to learn yet challenging enough to keep him busy and interested.

This is for very young- 3-4 year olds. Bought it for my son who is 5 and he already knows alphabet and numbers so he played it once and now its sitting in its box.

Pros:
- My 5 year old does enjoy this game
- It is built on a decent concept (a virtual 3D space with various 2D games inside it)
- Does contain a good set of educational content
Cons:
- Mouse-style controls, rather than real wiimote control. This is basically no more than a poorly ported PC game.
- Frequent long pauses while content loads. And during loading, the screen turns mostly black with tiny random characters meaninglessly flashing in the center. Lack of prefetch to hide these delays, AND lack of anything interesting on the screen during loading, are common amongst many low budget wii games.
- Poor user interface design. Many of the on-screen buttons are simply too tiny for kids to push, due to the awkwardness of the wiimote as a pointing device. My 5 year old can do it (albeit awkwardly), but my 3 year old immediately got too frustrated and has never been able to play this game. Some of the on-screen buttons should have been wiimote button presses, to be less awkward.
In summary, I'd say this game is about on par with other wii games I've bought for $[...]. So having paid ~$[...] for it leaves me feeling disappointed.
My experience with this game is consistent with my other experiences owning several JumpStart PC games. JumpStart's quality varies widely, with only the minority of their games being truly decent. It is too hard to tell which of their games are good before buying, and it doesn't help that they continue to sell some games that are several years old and based on outdated technology. There are other educational game brands out there with much more consistent, dependable quality...
