Amazon.com Review For sailors, surfers, hang-gliders, or kite-fliers, this nifty gadget is a must-have for keeping tabs on current wind conditions. The tiny handheld anemometer comes in a sporty, yellow, plastic, weather-resistant casing, making it ideal for use during water activities or rainy weather. About 5 seconds after powering up, the anemometer reports the current wind speed in either miles per hour, kilometers per hour, meters per second, or Knots plus, displays wind speed on a Beaufort Scale bar graph. The module also records the maximum and average wind speeds for any 2- to 10-second period of time, and recalls them at the user's prompting. This anemometer also measures current temperature in Fahrenheit or Celsius and wind chill. The LCD screen has a backlight, making the display easy to read even in low-light conditions. The display automatically turns off every 8 seconds in order to preserve the life of the 3-volt lithium cell battery. This anemometer comes with a handy neck band to help prevent you from losing it in foul weather, and is covered by a one-year warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

Not Happy! February 7, 2010 jlsjcs33 I received the product with a 16 year old battery, after replacing the battery the unit still didn't work. I had to send it back to the factory for a replacement, all of whick took an additional three weeks from the time I received the first anemometer. Works fine now, but what a hassele.
Had to return this unit February 7, 2010 Jim M (Oregon) When I received my La Crosse EA-3010U anemometer everything worked fine for a few minutes, then it stopped giving me wind readings. The temperature was showing on the display, but the wind was not. I had read other reviews mentioning their battery was dead, so I called La Crosse customer service and they told me to replace the battery. When I put a new battery in the unit, it worked fine for a few hrs, then it stopped registering wind speed. I put the original battery back in the unit and it worked fine for just a few minutes, then same problem. At this point I lost faith in the quality of this unit and felt it was better to get a Kestrel Anemometer as a replacement. While I did have the La Crosse unit a few days, I did notice that it takes a long time to get the correct temperature when taking it outdoors from the indoors. It seems that you get what you pay for when it comes to anemometers. I have not received my Kestrel anemometer yet so I have no comment on it.
Chilled December 28, 2009 Corbett 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you need a meter to measure wind speed, this device will do that very well. The wind speed measurements were accurate. If you are interested in temperature or wind chill, you will have to stand outside so long that you will know the values before the instrument tells you. It took about 45 minutes for it to go from room temperature, 70 degrees, to the outside temperature, 45 degrees. It is a good value for measuring wind speed, but you will chill before you get it to measure wind chill.
Item wasn't new. December 17, 2009 J. Gutteridge (FL) Very disappointed as item received with leaking lithium battery! My trust in Amazon, LLC, the seller, is greatly reduced.
Great Technology October 14, 2009 Luvino R. Vitancol It's easy to use,the numbers are cleared to read. I love the bright yellow color and specially the size of this item can easily take with you anywhere.
