No more falling suction cup mount November 20, 2009 Biju Philip (Chicago, IL United States) We were in great need for an item that was better than the suction cup mount. The suction cup mount would, in varying temperatures and humidity, fall off the windshield while I was driving. This was more than annoying as sometimes I would be relying on the GPS for directions as it fell off.
This device really solved the problem. I really thought that it would slide around the dashboard, but I've driven it in two convertibles (a Mustang and a Sebring) and a Honda Accord sedan for weeks now with no issues. It comes apart so that you can even travel with it. It's a little bit of an eye sore, but it's really worth it.
an answer to my need November 19, 2009 Joan A. Miller (oreland, pa usa) I did not want my Garmin 255W on my windshield and the bracket that came with the GPS did not hold for very long elsewhere, even with duct tape. This friction mount comes with a new bracket and works just fine, enabling me to place it anywhere that it is convenient.
Stays Put! November 19, 2009 Michael Gerbasi (Elmont, New York United States) The Garmin Portable Friction Mount, with its weighted base, stays where you put it. The underside is foam rubber and might be less effective on a dirty and dusty dash. The power cord for the GPS gets plugged directly into the mount, and the GPS sits in a cradle on an electrical interface. It snaps securely in place and releases with a push of a button. When not in use, I place it under a seat, as it's a little big for the glove compartment. A far better choice than the included suction mount.
Great Mount November 19, 2009 Brendan Buschi (Dover, DE USA) I have a Garmin Nuvi255W. I use this back and forth between my RAV4 and Savana Cargo Van. It stays where I place it. It is a great mount.
A must have November 17, 2009 Vincent Carrella (Saint Augustine,FL.) The Garmin Portable Friction Mount, will hold your G.P.S. at eye level on a flat surface of your cars dash surface. On my 2008 Scion, a found a spot below the dash surface right behind the steering wheel. The point is,it does not have to be a flat surface. It is heavy and friction keeps it from readly sliding.Easy to hide under seat etc.The Friction Mount can also be placed next to your computer when you are down loading or re- chargeing.I am very happy I chose this mount for my G.P.S
