Broken November 20, 2009 R. Jacobson (Minneapolis, MN) Printer is still in warranty...thank goodness. It has been in the shop twice over the last month. The first time for the part that senses the paper. The technician has to call Samsung and find out what is wrong and order the right part the second time around. Until this time, have been very happy in terms of everyday use. But clearly this is cheaply an poorly built and would not recommend it. This is the last Samsung printer I intend to buy. Also...the manual feed for single sheets and envelopes doesn't work the best. Paper doesn't always go in straight.
Great printer October 22, 2009 Paul Chin Great printer. Good quality prints, efficient on ink, and prints fast.
I had the feeding problem as well after 2 years of use but it's an easy fix. This problem actually plagues most laser printers/copiers that uses a rubber paper feeder. The simple fix is to wipe the rollers with rubber rejuvenator (also sold on Amazon)Caig Laboratories RBR100L-25C RUBBER REJUVENATOR 25ML CAIKLEEN RUBBER CLEANER.
Might be a hassle to some but I have come to learn that everything these days needs some kind of maintenance done if you want them to last.
Questionable ethical return policy October 16, 2009 FSRUDD 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
In April this year I purchased a Samsung ML 2510 laser printer from amazon.com. About a week ago, the printer had a paper jam that I could not remove. Samsung tech support could not help me remove the bits of paper stuck in the machine so I was told that a replacement printer would be sent since the printer was still under mfr warranty. The replacement printer arrived today, I had expected a new printer but the box was clearly labeled "REFURBISHED". I called Samsung customer service and was told by a very rude argumentative agent that Samsung's policy is that replacement printers are refurbished. When I complained that I was never told about this policy and would not have agreed to accept refurbished, that a refurbished printer was highly unacceptable and that I wanted a new printer, the agent hung up on me. I called back for a supervisor and was told that the escalation dept was closed and to call back tomorrow. I then called Amazon.com to register this complaint. I rated this printer as one star (should be zero) because of this experience with Samsung which in my opinion is a sneaky and underhanded method of "palming off" refurbished goods on innocent customers. I paid full price for the printer that jammed and I see that refurbished printers are being sold online at about 1/3 the price of new.
Today I called Samsung Executive Customer Relations Department and spoke to "Denise". I advised her of the above complaint but she remained fixed, unmoved and adamant in adhering to Samsung's policy of replacing new printers with refurbished ones. Even after I advised her I had advised Amazon of the complaint and its agent agreed that this policy was "shocking" and that I was going to write this complaint in a review she remained robot-like in her position that refurbished printers are sent to replace new printers that have problems. I even told her refurbished printers are being sold at about 1/3 the price of new but she remained rooted in her position in upholding this policy. I even advised her that in my opinion the policy was unethical, sneaky and underhanded but this did not move her to change and send me a new printer.
This review is written as a warning to potential purchasers of Samsung products if you have a problem with the product, you probably will not get a new replacement but a refurbished one. Don't expect any sympathy or fairness after you pay full price for new and get refurbished.
Disgusted and outraged.
Great print quality for the price, terrible setup experience October 12, 2009 J. Michael Dervish (Virginia, USA) I purchased this printer on a whim from a large office supply store in my town. I am an undergraduate student, and was sick of having to go to campus to print but didn't want to waste tons of money on ink. I print mostly papers and webpages, so I don't have any need for color.
I have a brand new Macbook running Snow Leopard...this is where the trouble started. If you follow the basic instructions, put the disk in, run the software etc, when you go to print you will be greeted with "The printer software was installed incorrectly. Please reinstall the printer's software or contact the manufacturer for assistance."
After a little bit of googling, the solution is simple. Go into your Apple system preferences, and click "Print and Fax." Right click (or Cntrl+Click) in the white space on the left hand side of the preferences window, and chose "Reset Printing System." Then re-add the printer by clicking on the plus (+) sign, and choose the ML-2510 series. This will resolve the issue.
Great printer so far, I haven't ran into any of the jamming issues. I was amazed at how light the box is, but it's a very cheaply priced laser so you can't complain. It doesn't feel particularly cheap or flimsy, but I am used to using much larger, heavier laser printers. The paper tray holds enough paper to last a light user a while, but don't expect to fit an entire ream in easily.
Also, this printer doesn't come with the USB cable. Annoying, but common. I had a spare cable, but if you don't you'll need to add that in to the total.
Great the Price October 8, 2009 Jane Gilmer (Columbia, SC USA) Very pleased with printer. I can accomplish what I need to with this simple to use printer.
