Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The premier household name in melodic hard rock returns with a vengeance! Whitesnake is back with "Good To Be Bad", their 10th studio album and first in over a decade. This brand new album features a slew of instant-classic Whitesnake songs that are destined to stand side by side with such favorites as "Here I Go Again", "Still Of The Night" and "Fool For Your Love." Led by world-renown vocalist extraordinaire David Coverdale, "Good To Be Bad" is truly classic Whitensake, displaying that rare combination of high class and kick ass that has made them what they are today... the absolute best!

Album Description
The brand-new Whitesnake album "Good To Be Bad", a masterpiece consisting of eleven songs & featuring all the important trademarks of the band, as well as a fresh breeze courtesy of Coverdale's fantastic voice & current line-up. Good To Be Bad is pure & unadulterated Whitesnake, a classy recording that really doesn't require a more detailed description. The new album sounds so unmistakably, typically Whitesnake says David Coverdale: "For me, the heart & soul of Whitesnake remains the same."

3 out of 5 stars The Good....The Bad.....The Ugly......   July 19, 2008
It's good to be mediocre is closer to what this title should be. I'm going to give my 2 cents in a very brief synopsis. Oh, by the way, I have been a Whitesnake fan for 20 years, and it pains me to write some of this but here goes.

The good-The Songs. Coverdale has written/assembled some great songs here. Standouts are the title track, all I want, all I need, summer rain, and the bluesy all for love.

The bad-The Production/Packaging. This production and packaging is not up to Whitesnake standards and the arrangements are off on some songs. There is a defined inconsistency to this production, as they seemed to spend more time with the potential singles, i.e. All I want, All I need leaving the album unbalanced. I bought the European edition with the bonus tracks and my track listing was way off. The CD itself looked a little bootleg, and the final track which is the live version of The deeper the love is downright unlistenable.

The Ugly-Coverdale's Voice. It funny, while other front men from the 80's struggle to hit the upper range of their voice as they get older (Don Dokken), Coverdale struggles with his lower. His voice on the slower tracks is so raspy, it literally sounds like he has laryngitis or something. His upper register is still great, which puzzles me why his lower is shot. I played this album for a couple of girls that were casual Whitesnake fans, and they were like "What happened to his voice" and "Is this the same guy". Seriously, he really struggles with his lower range on Summer Rain, especially the acoustic version. Too Bad because it's a great song too. I listened to this track along with tracks from Lovehunter, Come and Get it, and Slide it in, and the difference is quite noticeable. Come on Dave, get your lower register back in shape again.....

Thant's my 2 cents...You know the old attache. Opinions are like ********......Everyone's got em!

5 out of 5 stars What a killer album!   July 13, 2008
From beginning to end, this album just simply rocks and rocks hard. This is the best thing I've heard out of them since the self titled album, Whitesnake, with Still of the Night was released in the early 80s. I wasn't much for the days after Sykes and Vandenberg, where they had Steve Vai playing. He just didn't fit the band to me.

I just love every song on this, from its first listen I had to sit there and go...wow, David Coverdale hasn't lost it at all. He's starting to get a little more scratchy with age, but man, can he hit those notes when he wants to.

And the selection of guitarists Doug Aldrich and Reb Beach, what a killer combo. Couldn't have asked for a better combination of axe weilding on this CD.

Great song writing, great feel, GREAT PRODUCTION! (which you don't find too often anymore), just an awesome CD...pick it up, if you like their early 80s stuff, with a modern day lower kick to it.

4 out of 5 stars Great album, good to hear rock again   July 13, 2008
When I first heard this I thought it had a couple of good songs but not much else. A few listens later and the album really grew on me. If nothing else, buy it for "Best Years". Its good to hear this kind of music being played again.

It's too bad record labels have lost their focus. Great rock albums are out there, the labels just don't let you know.

4 out of 5 stars Welcome Back Dudes!   July 11, 2008
It's not going to be as flashy or as popular as it was in 1987-1989 and it doesn't need to be. Let's be honest, for those of us who got into this band during the 80s metal era, the music wasn't nearly as memorable as some of the outfits and videos. BUT it was fun and this album is as close to that feeling as you'll find in today's rock music. A good infusion of new and young talent along with Aldrich's tireless drumming and Coverdale's trademark voice. Its held up rather well after all these years. Welcome back, Coverdale and Whitesnake!
