| Editorial Reviews:
Album Description 2008 release, the Canadian's first album in four years. Hayden rose from the lakes of Ontario in the late '90s and was immediately hailed as 'the new Beck'. While Hayden's music is much more akin to Ontario's other favorite son, Neil Young, he has been known to cut and paste like Mr. Hansen. In Field & Town features 11 top quality songs that perfectly match his deep infectious voice and toe-tapping Folk tunes. Hardwood.

Excellent album on a different level. May 24, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Hayden's new album "In Field &Town" is an excellent choice for a new purchase. He has some very clever songs in the bank with this one. Although it is not really like any of his other ones. "In Field & Town" doesn't have as many "story" type songs as in his others. It is an easy listening album, and as always you will not be disappointed.
More of the Great Hayden February 17, 2008 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
I picked this album up in Vancouver. Hopefully the price will be reasonable for American listeners. It's a great album, quintessential Hayden but should be priced in the same range of his other discs.
This album is great, purely in the fact that it is fun to listen to. There are some "relationship" songs but the big draw here is Hayden's craftsmanship. I have listened to most of his albums and each one of them is unique in their own way. He doesn't repeat himself musically. He consistently tries out new melodies, expanding his sound while retaining his style - which I think is remarkable and rare amongst the majority of recording artists in the industry today.
The best way to obviously experience Hayden is live. His songs are rarely unaccompanied by his humorous stories and takes on life. You're always smiling at his shows. If Hayden is coming your way, by all means, get tickets. His musicianship reminds me of the folk singers of the sixties, there is a great earthiness to his presence, a compelling modesty and tenderness, all of which shows up in his studio work. His music is an eccentric treasure to behold, highly accessible and very fun, very human.
