Product Description Lyrics Born (a.k.a. Tom Shimura) has long been known for his innovative beats, creative collaborations, and soulful vocals. Here he takes a giant leap forward in song craft, incorporating elements such as pop, reggaeton, and R&B. It's the rare MC who can bridge the gap between hip-hop and alternative rock, owning the crowd at Bonnaroo and Bumbershoot as easily as he trades rhymes with Charlie 2na. Just remember those can't-get-it-out-of-your-head songs from Nokia and Diet Coke commercials.
Album Description 2008 release from the critically successful Hip Hop innovator. Everywhere At Once reveals the full breadth and depth of his skill and vision: minimalist grooves, reimagined electro, East Bay greasy funk, devoluted punk, futurist dancehall, postmodern blues, tomorrow's slappers. He's an artist who is not interested in the limits set by the market or even his past triumphs. Lyrics Born (formerly known as Asia Born, born Tom Shimura in Tokyo in 1972), is a half-Japanese American, half-Italian American Hip Hop rapper. He is one half of the group Latyrx with Lateef the Truthspeaker.

The Antidote June 20, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Let's face it; for the most part, rap has ceased to be very exciting. Lil' Wayne and the like are producing very cliche grooves and rhymes that can only be described as messy and boring. (How many songs can we hear touting the amount of money a rapper makes, or how good he is in bed. It gets old.)
If you agree with what I said above - even somewhat - please check out Lyrics Born's album Every Where At Once. LB takes us back a bit to a more Old School approach to rap. Backed by a real band, his beats are fresh and extremely dripping with funk. His rhymes are thoughtful and interesting, avoiding the typical tired topics of Benjamins and ego-stroking.
And I am extrememly sad that no one was making a fuss about Lyrics Born when everyone was talking about the rhyming ability of Eminem. Of course, he can spit, but I am not sure one can hear some of the rhymes on LB's album and not put him in the same category.
I do want to warn that to those who like a more hard edged style, this album may seem a bit too pop-friendly. A few songs are admittedly cheesy. "Differences," about the differences between men and women in relationships, is a bit to airy for my tastes. And LB's excursion into dancefloor reggae - "Top Shelf" - probably will not convince many people. But there are too many songs that are simply too infectious and ingenious. And the 'skits' are hillarious.
I have finally found an rap artist that is different. I can be excited again.
What a waste of $10. May 22, 2008 1 out of 9 found this review helpful
I really wanted to eject this CD and throw it out the window of my car but I don't litter. What a big disappointment. I agree with the reviewer about the trill R&B vocals. If they weren't on it then I might MIGHT not want to throw it out. I am going to give it to someone else so they can toss it in the trash where it belongs. I don't write reviews on this site but this album just BURNED me and forced me to do so. HORRIBLE!
VERY DISAPPOINTING May 21, 2008 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
I will make this concise. If you enjoyed Lyrics Born's style when paired with Lateef on Latyrx or even his solo ventures previous to this abysmal release, you will sadly be skipping many tracks on this album. It ventures far from his previous work and delves into the realm of commercial rap/ R&B. I have never been so disappointed by someone from Quannum. LB went pop, and should be embarassed for it.
TRUE HIP HOP HEADS STEER CLEAR... GIVE YOUR MONEY TO RHYMESAYERS OR DEF JUX!
Old School feel May 13, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Short & sweet, If you like Old School hip hop, this record (& artist) will impress you allot! Japanese rapper from Berkley? Heck he reminds me of artists that actually rapped. As stated in a song of his "when your lyrics actually had to rhyme"...
Fabulous Hip Hop Album! May 1, 2008 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I just love this album. The production wins me over big time, but when the lyrical flows settle in the total effect if this album is A+. Beat-seamed between tracks, the album flows together as if well thought-out. Chilling lyrics are understandable and meaningful. Between this and the new Roots I have no room left for dessert.
