Great Perfomance From A Rare Talent; A Bargain CD/DVD. August 4, 2008

Steve Oliver is quite well known to smooth jazz lovers, and on this live CD/DVD, he gives a great perfomance. This man is a rare talent in that he has mastered the acoustic guitar, and he sings, quite well I might add, and plays manificiently. There are only two musicians playing, Steve, himself, and another gentleman. Steve plays his guitar, but he can make it sound like a piano, horns, strings, bass and other instuments. The other gentleman plays all percussions and drums, and although the drums are digital, they were convincing as real drums to me. In fact he had a computer gadget that actually hit the bass pedal on drums. You can watch this on the DVD supplied with this CD, and its pretty dog gone good. They do a convincing job in making one think that several musicians are playing. However, having recently heard a live five member band, I can't say that this is a substitute for the real thing. However, the sound is excellant and the quality of the compositions make this an easy recommendation. This is a bargain purchase and belongs in all smooth jazz lovers collection. Its a fairly stunning production with a very inexpensive price tag.

I have over 5000+ jazz songs on my I-pod & acoustic guitar is my favorite. From A. Ray Fuller to Klugh, to Benson, Ritenour to Norman & Paul Brown, Oliver is right there, maybe the tops. He is in the upper echelon of guitarists in talent & this CD shows you why. But, he can also sing very, very well!! You will not go wrong at all purchasing any of his CD's if you like acoustic guitar or "feel good" music. His live performance is a work of art. Google his web page & watch his live performance at the Canadian Jazz awards & you'll get goosebumps! Guaranteed! He's the best kept secret in the music world. Fabulous!

Steve oliver is awesome superb & very very very talented muician & singer of our time. His 08 rel. gets 10 star rating from me thats how awesome it truly is.I say go out & buy this cd & all his cds before this one there all awesome. You,ll be glad you bought his 08 rel. & all of his other cds as well.
