Dance To This Turns Up The Heat!!! August 18, 2008
I saw Alfonzo Blackwell in concert last summer and boy did he knock me off my feet with his cool saxophone riffs. I went with my dad and a couple of my buddies and I've been a fan of his since then. My dad played piano back in the day and he turned me onto Alfonzo's music. I purchased his latest CD recently and was blown away with his skills. I grew up with so many different types of music in the house, so I have an appreciation for really good music.
Dance To This hits hard with 14 songs which is rare these days with jazz CD's. There are more listening minutes of hot music. You get more bang for your buck. This guy is killin'
This CD would make a great gift for real music lovers to add to their collection. Alfonzo - Keep giving us the best music. You rock, my friend.
This CD Is A Crowd Pleaser August 14, 2008
"Dance To This" is a wonderful CD. Each track has its own unique flavor that leaves you in a pleasant state of mind. There are many tunes that are funky for dancing and there are some cuts that are lovely mid-temple and slow-temple that mounds to a wonderful blend of great music.
I recommend this CD if you enjoy listening to a talented master at work. It's a real crowd pleaser. Enjoy!
Mr. Blackwell Does It Again! August 12, 2008
I've been a fan since his debut. This smooth jazz veteran has being doing his thing for over a decade. "Dance To This" is a natural progression from his past works. It's funky with a capital "F". I've gotten the pleasure of seeing him live in action a couple of times when he made his way to my neck of the woods. There is no artist of today that performs with the amount of energy and intensity that Mr. Blackwell does. His show is the hottest ticket around.
I've been playing the sax for most of my life and this cat is on fire. He plays his horns with such complexity and skill. His tone is immaculate. He always keeps his music REAL unlike the music in-a-can & elevator music sounding music that you hear mostly nowadays. Go get this new essential CD for your listening elation. It's a great package of tracks.
