Amazingly Dull and Boring November 16, 2007 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
The Deftones are not a talented band. Their lyrics are ridiculous. The songwriting lacks depth. Their music gets old after the first listen. The singer acts like he has something important to say, which he doesnt have the savvy to express. The guitarist tries way to hard to write a catchy riff, at which he fails miserably. Brian Welch could write a better riff if he was dead. The singer's voice is very annoying with that whiney tone that is stereotypical to numetal. I am shocked that this album recieved so many good reviews. I wonder if it was all the same person.
Deftones- "Around the Fur" (1997) October 18, 2007 Deftones "Around the Fur"- I bought this cd a couple of weeks after I bought their debut "Adrenaline". I was immediately hooked to "Adrenaline", so I went out and bought this one. Needless to say I was also immediately hooked to this one. It's definately heavier than "Adrenaline" (In my opinion). The chugging riffs and Chino's signature vox are there but it seems a little slower than "Adrenaline". But in a good way. "Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)" is definately one of my favorite Deftones songs. Also, make sure you fast forward after "MX" to the hidden song "Damone".
:) August 28, 2007 Almost nine years since I bought this album for the first time and I am still addicted. It has yet to bore me, and pretty much laid the foundation for my current taste in music, great band indeed.
my favorite album July 6, 2007 I consider myself as a diehard deftones fan. I honestly can say that I enjoy anything that is produced by them. I think "around the fur" is the first cd I've owned by def as far as I can remember. I love the sound they have on this release. Its signature def and I can't get over it. This album still gives me the chills.
Who's the Chick on the cover? June 27, 2007 I haven't listened to this CD in years and when I mean years I mean since 1999, and I had only really listened to 1 song... My own summer, it wasn't until the b-sides cd was released and I watched the clip for 'Be Quiet And Drive (Far Away)' I had a renew interest in the album. Upon first listen I was blown away, each song well crafted, full of angst and clever lyrics. After repeated listen's especially the ace 'Head Up' on high rotation, I could see the formula that has been ripped off from countless other 'Nu Metal' bands ***cough*** Linkin Park ***cough***. At least the Deftones made it their own sound and have grown into what they are today... Fav Tracks: Be Quiet And Drive (Far Away) Head Up
