Amazon.co.uk Anyone familiar with cultish comedy series Flight of the Conchords will be aware of the wonderful songs that the hapless New Zealand duo Bret and Jemaine concoct for each episode. Tackling all genres, from hip hop and soul to glam rock, the duo create highly original and well-produced tracks that typically satirise the very genre they?re imitating. This album collects together many of the show?s best musical moments, many of them subtly revamped. "Hiphopopotamus vs. Rhymenoceros" and "Boom" illustrate the pair?s hilarious 'rap' skills. "Think About It" parodies socially minded soul visionaries such as Marvin Gaye and Curtis Mayfield, "Bowie" satirises the 70s icon (especially his prodigious drug use), while "Inner City Pressure" mimics the Pet Shop Boys. Two of the most memorable songs from the series--"The Prince of Parties" and "The Most Beautiful Girl (In the Room)"--are also both present, making this the definitive FOTC compilation. The humour ranges from offbeat to downright daft, but there's nothing laughable about the production, which is mostly first class. It's true they could have given us a few new songs, but then how many comedy albums can you repeatedly rewind and find yourself not only laughing, but dancing too?--Paul Sullivan
Product Description This acclaimed Kiwi novelty band follow the release of their six-track Grammy Award-winning CD EP "The Distant Future" with their full-length debut. Features fully fleshed-out and professionally recorded versions of the duo's concerts and TV favorites. Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement's trademark acoustic guitars lead the blitz, backed by a diverse array of instrumentation and production technique. If amazing, delightful, and hilarious is your idea of funny, then prepare for undisappointment. These fifteen songs pay homage to Pet Shop Boys, censorship, Marvin Gaye, sexism, Shabba Ranks, and backhanded compliments.

Awesome and hilarious July 22, 2008 Everytime I listen to any track on this CD it makes me laugh and think of the episodes those songs come from. If you like the series you'll like the CD a lot.
love it! July 21, 2008 Although Flight of the Conchords may not be a "real" band, this is a fantastic album. Of course the lyrics are hilarious, but even the melodies are good. Play it during your next party and see what kind of a reaction you get.
Always Good for a Chuckle July 20, 2008 Flight of the Conchords
If you're already familiar with Flight of the Conchords, then there's not a lot I need to tell you about this solid disc. If you're NOT familiar with Flight of the Conchords, well then, you may want to consider becoming such.
Flight of the Conchords is a "folk parody duo" that plays whimsical songs about whatever they happen to feel like writing about. Most of the tracks on this particular disc all stem from the first season of the TV show they did on HBO. Many of my favorites are contained herein, such as "Boom" and "Hiphopapotamus vs Rhymnocerous", and, "Bowie". A couple tracks make a second appearance on this disc, having already been featured in the "The Distant Future" EP. ("Business Time" is the first one that comes to mind.)
For anyone looking for a light-hearted, comical listen, this disc is definitely. If you're already into the Conchords, this disc will not disappoint. If you're new to them, for the price, this is a GREAT starting point.
Great Album July 10, 2008 Especially if you have seen the show "Flight of the Conchords", you will love the album.
Awesome! July 8, 2008 Jemaine and Bret are so ridiculously awesome all efforts at praise kinda seem to me pithy, bland and "current". Their band, their TV show, their act and this record is/are/whatever....simply incredible. I knew I loved their songs with the intensity of a thousand suns probably about 1 minute after first hearing them. Totally. Buy this CD. Buy their DVD. Do whatever it takes to invest in their incredible talent. Werd.
