GREAT MUSIC July 14, 2008 THIS IS A GREAT CD. ACTUALLY ANYTHING THAT KIM WATERS IS APART OF HAS TO BE GREAT. I AM ANTICIPATING THE NEXT "STREETWIZE" CD.
Nice 'N Easy And Saxy May 26, 2008 What's better than 1 great sax player?? Why...3 great sax players at once. This is a debut album by these guys. This is the best sax album I've heard in years. The only tune I'm familiar with is 'Tequila' which was made popular by the Champs. This group readdresses the song and it sounds great. Catch the great keyboards on 'Goin' Home'. I'll be looking forward to more from this group.
Great CD from this group! April 29, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have seen the Sax Pack in concert on several occasions and listening to this CD it seems that they have not missed a beat, they just put their performance on CD. Each artist gets equal time, but the last cut to me is my favorite. Just Saxes and an organ...excellent!
Sax Pack March 21, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have a combination of 12 CD's of Kim Waters, Steve Cole and Jeff Kashiwa so I was definitely interested to see how this collaboration would turn out-and it turned out quite well. It is a really nice mix of different sax sounds and different sax styles. All three have a distinctive sound but put it together well. 'Falling For You' seems to be getting the airplay and it is fun, upbeat number that shows how well the three blend right off the bat. They do 5 more original songs including 'Maceo', one of my favorites on the CD. They do three covers as well and I think an excellent version of 'The World Is A Ghetto. They are going to be touring in So Cal. this summer and I am anxious to see them based on this release and all the other good stuff these three have done over the years. If you are a fan of good contemporary jazz, pick this up. If you like the sax, definitely pick this up.
Summery grooves. March 20, 2008 20 out of 20 found this review helpful
With plenty of funk, R&B, soul, and jazz influences, the three saxmen effortlessly bridge the gap between instrumental virtuosity, seamless ensemble playing, and a high-caliber creative chemistry that runs the stylistic gamut in what's regarded as very accomplished project. Featuring smooth jazz saxophonists Jeff Kashiwa, Kim Waters, and Steve Cole, the album comes after three years of summer tours by the talented threesome. The charming, talented trio heat up their fans from the first song to the last song -- leaving them wanting for more. Jeff, Kim and Steve are the total package -- great musicians, great personalities, and great showmen. This is a winning combination: the album that will appeal to most Smooth Jazzers... From the cover of the '60 hit "Tequila", which fearures the excellent guitarist Jeff Golub, to the beautiful take on "The World Is A Ghetto", this album delivers cut after cut. The set also includes original tunes such as "Maceo," a tribute to funk saxophonist Maceo Parker. I like it. You will like it !
