| Editorial Reviews:
Album Description Limited deluxe edition contains two bonus tracks ('Dead Inside' and 'Would It Matter') as well as Fanbase enhancement and fan club insert. 2009 release, Skillet's eighth studio album, Awake, recorded with Grammy-nominated producer Howard Benson. The foursome's overwhelmingly satisfied with the entire sonic and thematic palette throughout Awake, which is loaded with plenty of anthems in the making destined to be smash singles and concert sing-a-longs. Skillet's massive fan base (who affectionately refer to themselves as "Panheads") are sure to agree, though they'll likely be even more impressed with the lyrical outpouring, which remains a top priority for the players. The album contains 12 tracks, including 'Monster' which were added to their live set during their Comatose Tour, and the single 'Hero'.

I think I'm gonna be sick... November 11, 2009 Alan Laurine (Murfreesboro, TN) Man... I've gotta say I am really disappointed in Skillet. I got their self titled way back in the day (the one with the skillet on the cover) and it is awesome, full of creativity and dynamic. Then they kinda got techno-ish, and that was pretty cool I guess. And their Ardent Worship record is great. ... now, they're Nickelback. They're Three Days Grace. They're every other suck-rock clone thats out there. I guess thats just what people like now. I guarantee you its just because it's what the radio feeds us lemmings. It's sad.
Same thing over and over November 6, 2009 Travis M. Zinn 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
What is skillet? A Nickelback wannabe?
This newest album from skillet is just bad. They did not push themselves at all.
Ballad, after ballad. Other than the rockers, "hero" and "Monster" the album is weak and unoriginal.
But none of this matters because thousands of teenagers who don't know music will love anything they put out.
Just like nickelback.
Skillet- Awake = Awesomeness November 2, 2009 Kitty (VA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This CD is absolutely amazing. By far their best. The music rocks and the lyrics speak to me. Recommended for anyone and everyone who loves music.
So So November 1, 2009 S. Peek (Rocky Mountains, USA) As one who has really enjoyed most of Skillet's past efforts, I find this one to be pretty mediocre.
Admittedly, the band set a high standard with 'Comatose' particularly and it is pretty tough to top that. This one doesn't even come close though. There are a couple of pretty catchy songs, particularly 'Hero'. Most of the rest are rather forgettable. Additionally, it seems that they are trying to move from the Christian market to a more mainstream presence. That is okay if that is what they want, but it is likely to be disappointing to longtime fans. The songs have clean lyrics, but many sound like just basic love songs. Anyone who is looking for Christian messages will have to search pretty hard as they are rather subtle.
Overall, I would say take a pass on this one.
One of the best cds to come out this year October 20, 2009 Dylan A. Jacobsen (Alaska) Ive bought the last couple skillet albums, and Comatose is by far my favorite. I had been waiting a long time for them to bring us something new and i was not dissapointed. if you really like comatose you'll love this cd. Believe, Hero, One Day Too Late, Awake, Its Not Me Its You, and Monster are all hits. If you like the older older skillet from about 10 years ago you may have to grow into this new tune they have.
