Album Description
Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel is packaged in a beautiful 3-panel softpack. A must-have for all Mariah fans, it will include: - The CD - A 2nd Enhanced CD featuring the "Obsessed" video, a remix video, and 3 remixes

- a 36 page Elle mini-magazine that's an inside look at Mariah.

First came the emancipation, then came energy and power, and now come Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, the new album by international superstar Mariah Carey, scheduled to arrive on September 29th. The first new single pick from Memoirs is "Obsessed,". The video for "Obsessed" is directed by Brett Ratner. "Obsessed" was written and produced by Mariah, The-Dream and Tricky Stewart, who are responsible for the majority of tracks on the new album. Memoirs was executive-produced by Antonio "L.A." Reid. Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, the 12th studio album of Mariah's career, is the eagerly anticipated follow-up to her RIAA platinum-selling album E=MC² (released April 15, 2008), and her worldwide 10 million selling The Emancipation Of Mimi (released April 12, 2005). Both were Soundscan #1 debut albums that made chart history for Mariah in the U.S. and numerous territories around the globe.

The Emancipation Of Mimi generated three Grammy awards (including Best Contemporary R&B Album), two #1 singles, and countless more honors during its 18-month chart stay. The album debuted at #1 on first week sales of 404,000 copies, Mariah's highest first week sales total (until E=MC²;). Soundscan's biggest-selling album of 2005, Mimi featured "We Belong Together" (Grammy winner for Best Female R&B Vocal and Best R&B Song) and "Don't Forget About Us," Mariah's 16th and 17th #1 career singles respectively. They tied one of the most enduring chart records in Billboard Hot 100 history, Elvis Presley's 17 #1's.

Three years later, E=MC²; debuted at #1 on first week sales of 463,000 copies, which now stands as the highest first week sales total of Mariah's career. The album's success brought total sales of Mariah's albums, singles and videos to more than 160 million worldwide, distancing her even further from the pack as the top-selling female recording artist in history.

E=MC² spun off four singles: "Touch My Body," "Bye Bye," "I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time," and "I Stay In Love." Of these, "Touch My Body" made history when it became Mariah's 18th #1 Hot 100 hit, thus surpassing Elvis Presley. "Touch My Body"'s two weeks at the top also marked Mariah's 78th and 79th cumulative career weeks at #1, which tied Elvis' long-standing all-time high of 79 weeks at #1, as calculated in Billboard.com. At the same time, Mariah is now positioned as the only active recording artist in the 50 years of the Hot 100 (which began in 1958) with the potential to surpass the Beatles' all-time high of 20 #1 hits.

5 out of 5 stars Just Press Play...   November 20, 2009

This album is AMAZING!!! I have always been a Mariah fan, but when I purchased this album I had so-so expectations.Because she has been doing this for so long I automatically assumed it would be one of those albums that was put out due to contract requirements. So glad to know I was wrong! From the time the first track begins with Betcha Gon' Know, you are swept into this experience that every woman has felt at some point. That revenge moment as Mariah sings "...Betcha gon gon know how it feels...when I get ya back..and ya hearts been cracked..and we fade to black..and you see ya whole world collapse...IMA LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LAUGH".Her voice is so melodic, so strong, so emotional.I can't gush enough about it so I will list my current top songs(as of this morning lol)in track order:

1.Betcha Gon' Know
2.Obsessed
3.H.A.T.E.U (unbelievable!!!!)
6.Inseparable
7.Standin' O (so catchy you will sing for days)
8.It's a Wrap
15.Angels Cry (was singing this to my hubby last night)
16.Languishing (the shortest track, wish it were longer cause it's so good)

Bottom Line:Get this album if you need to experience every feeling love has to offer..the good and the bad =)

5 out of 5 stars Why you so Obsessed with me???   November 17, 2009

Mariah Carey is back again and this time in a major way. Following the thoroughly disappointing E=MC2, Mariah Carey has hit a homerun with her new release Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel. This album is comparable to The Emancipation of Mimi in my opinion and if you enjoyed that album then this one is in that same vein. Mariah's vocals still sound great although of course she can't hit those notes she used to hit in the early 90s. The production is handled by some of the best, if not the best, in the business; The-Dream & Tricky Stewart produce, write, and arrange the entire album. Needless to say that the album has that edgy attitude and tone that the tandem is known for. Towards the end of the album she finds her ballad magic again and it results in some truly remarkable songs.

Listening to this album brings a huge smile to my face which is what music is supposed to do. Throughout listening to the album there was plenty smiles, snaps, claps, and foot tapping going on. It's a mystery to me why this album wasn't the hit it was supposed to be. Mariah's not even Gold yet and that astonishes me (even in the download age). But oh well, low sales figures doesn't mean the album isn't good. I advise you to pick up a copy soon. 5 stars.

*The album comes with a bonus disc of techno/disco remixes that are all horrible...but if you like that kinda thing you might enjoy it. The booklet has all the lyrics as well as some magazine thing with lipstick ads and other useless trivia*

I have been a fan of Mariah Carey for as long as she's been singing... But I was not really captured by any of these tracks on Imperfect Angel. I found her Perfect Voice overpowered by too much backround clutter music.

5 out of 5 stars Another Gem from Mariah!!   November 10, 2009

Not exactly easy listening, this album it's an excellent work, it shows Mariah's maturity as musician and as a vocalist. For this one, she works more with her low voice as shown on the addictive "Betcha Goin' know", the opening track but also offers the best of her high notes and her super difficult vocal arrangements in songs like "Inseparable" (where she nods Beyonce's "Halo"), "Angels Cry" and "I Want to Know What Love Is". All of them will please her older fans who prefer the ballads as much as they will love "Languishing" which is on the line of previous unreleased yet popular tracks from other albums ("Vanishing", "Looking in" "Petals"). In the past, Mariah has written songs for lost love but on the perspective of missing the lost one or wanting to return back with her lover. This time, she lets her agressive side shows on songs like "Obsessed", the catchy and super funny "Up Out My Face" and the powerful "Standing O". Get this album for christmas for you and your friends, they will thank you forever!!.

5 out of 5 stars Easily one of her best   November 10, 2009

I have fallen in love with this album. Like a lot of people have said, this album definitely grows on you after a while and after like three times listening to it i'm in love with every song. Also, a lot of people a all worked up about how "mariah has changed" and isn't the same as she was in the 90's, and how she doesn't "sing" anymore.

Okay, people and especially artists change as time goes on. Mariah is definitely becoming more R&B, but for those who claim she doesn't produce the power ballads anymore obviously haven't heard "Angel's Cry" from this album. And on top of that, what more does Mariah have to prove? She's like the best selling female artist of all time - she doesn't have to include the same "universal ballads of inspiration" that she did a lot of before. Bottom line: it's a great album, the talent is definitely still there and Mariah rocks it out on MOAIA.
