Can't stop listening! November 20, 2009 Katie M. (Chicago, IL) I really like this CD. While I think the Twilight soundtrack is a bit better than this New Moon soundtrack, it's still definitely worth buying (especially for the price!). I really don't think you can buy it for any cheaper than this. When I first listened to this soundtrack, I was a bit dissappointed and thought some of the songs were REALLY weird (I think it's because I don't usually listen to this type of music). However at the same time I couldn't STOP listening to it! Now I do so every day, twice a day, since I got it a month ago! It seems odd, but once you listen to it once or twice and warm up to it, you realize how great the CD is! I would list the "highlight" songs...but I then I would be listing 11 of the them...so I guess you could say it's a great CD and it is definitely worth giving it a try! Even if you aren't a Twilight fan, it's still great and can be enjoyed by the biggest Twi-hards or by the most extreme anti-twilighters!
Good Album November 20, 2009 k The album has several good songs that you wouldn't be able to get without buysing the cd. So it's worth it.
Perfect fit for New Moon November 20, 2009 WrtratHeart (Colorado) I think the music really captures the emotion of the book. I like the mixture of artists. Meet Me on the Equinox, New Moon (The Meadow), Satellite Heart, Possibility, White Demon Love Song -- all great! Can't wait to see where the music fits into the movie tomorrow night!
New Moon Soundtrack November 19, 2009 Leeanna Bond I loved the Twilight Soundtrack, so my hopes were very high for New Moon. The first time or two I listened to it I did not like it. After listening several more times I began liking some of the songs. I've had it now for about a month and I would say that I really like 3 of the 15 songs. Eleven songs are mediocre and the song Roslyn is downright awful. Besides sounding bad or boring, I don't feel that many of the songs fit. They don't capture the emotion of the book. I was expecting to get a feel for the depression Bella went through and maybe something very exciting as she races to save Edward. I think much better songs and artists could have been chosen for this soundtrack. Disappointing.
Into the Night November 19, 2009 Amaranth (Northern California) "The Twilight Saga: New Moon Soundtrack" shows that sometimes, the soundtrack is superior to a movie's plot, and the movie itself. While "New Moon" is a love triangle between Bella,a teen with low self-esteem,a vampire and a werewolf, the soundtrack is a fascinating blend of today's indie rock artists. Ironically, they're the sort whose music probably DOESN'T play at HOT TOPIC for the black lipstick wearing TWILIGHT fans.
Radiohead's Thom Yorke contributes the haunting "Hearing Damage." The Killers, who've managed the crossover from indie to pop radio, have the equally haunting "White Demon Love Song." Bon Iver and Grizzly Bear, beloved more among indie rock NPR listeners than Edward-smitten tweens, contribute "Roslyn" and "Slow Life." Bon Iver's For Emma, Forever Ago,an album composed after a breakup when he decided to become reclusive in the wilderness, sings "Roslyn" with St. Vincent Marry Me Grizzly Bear has been compared to the Beatles with their Veckatimest They collaborate with Victoria Legrand. Muse The Resistance, who have opened for U2,and whose front man sounds eerily like Bono, contributes "I belong to you." The final, haunting piece is Alexandre Desplat's "New Moon (Meadow)." It's the crowning touch for the album. True, the compilation has weaknesses like Anya Marina's annoying "Satellite Heart" and Lykke Li's "Possibility",but overall it's a strong combination of a group of artists.
During this recession, hard times have fallen on indie rockers. Weezer is doing infomercials for the Snuggie while others give their music to a beloved teen vampire romance franchise. It's not selling out,it's survival--and in this case,it sounds good.
