Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Arguably the most accomplished singer/songwriter of his generation, Rob Thomas is one of modern music's most compelling and commercially successful artists. Between Matchbox Twenty, his solo work, and his various collaborations with iconic artists like Santana and Mick Jagger, his tally now stands at more than 80 million albums sold worldwide.

The latest magical collection of Thomas-crafted inspiration is his second solo album, Cradlesong. The new album follows his 2005 multiplatinum solo debut, ...Something To Be, which made history as the first album by a male artist from a rock or pop group to debut at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 since the chart was launched 50 years earlier. The album earned a pair of Grammy nominations and spawned a string of hit singles, including the smash 'Lonely No More' which was #1 in 15 countries. cradlesong, with Matt Serletic again in the producer's chair, was forged in a creatively charged atmosphere. The result is a percussive rock record that pulses with passion and energy and portrays a world he views with boundless optimism.

Despite the occasionally discouraging lyric, Thomas infuses that hopeful spirit into cradlesong. 'I'm not a mopey person; I don't get satisfaction in heartache and despair. With the exception of a few things that start dark and stay dark, there's usually a hopefulness at the end of each song,' he says. 'There has to be; it s the hopeful part that makes you want to share them with people. It's the hopeful part that says you found some secret in the pain and maybe some other people will, too.'

5 out of 5 stars Just Feel Better   November 19, 2009
Lee Armstrong (Winterville, NC United States)
Rob Thomas' "Cradlesong" is another great set. His tunes sound different from much of the other music. On this set, "Someday" is one of my favorites while it feels slow but sounds full with the sentimental chorus, "Maybe someday we'll figure all this out; We'll put an end to all our doubt, try to find a way to just feel better now." "Mockingbird" also catches my ear with its driving lead guitar, throbbing rhythm guitar & Rob's melody hitting the higher register, "Everybody else is smiling." "Wonderful" also has a great hook-filled chorus that seduces you with its catchy tune as Thomas challenges with a grueling self-assessment, "Guess I'm past my prime & now I'm over-rated, over dressed & overstated." Thomas dives deep while keeping the whole thing entertaining. His is a fascinating artistry. Enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars Great album!   October 25, 2009

In an era of terribly crappy pop music and brainless hip hop garbage littering the airwaves, it is especially refreshing to get an album like this that reminds you that good music did used to happen and still can even now. Rob Thomas' new CD is one that you can just pop in and listen to all the way through. All of the tracks are solid enough. Track # 3(Give Me the Meltdown) and track # 13(Cradlesong) were my favorites, although tracks 1,4 and 5 are very good as well. This, along with Daughtry's new CD, is my favorite thing to listen to right now. It doesn't differ much from his last offering, but I liked that one so that's not a problem for me. Great album!

3 out of 5 stars A little disappointed, but Rob Thomas is always worth listening to   October 16, 2009

I expected more since I loved his last CD, but it's still worth buying. He's got such a great voice! I just didn't care too much for his selection of songs this go around. I hope it will grow on me.

5 out of 5 stars Masterpiece   October 10, 2009

Rob Thomas delivers once again. His song writing in this album is full of soul and each song carries a different tune and creates a wonderful mood. I was lucky enough to see him in concert and that every song he wrote on this album is about some period or situation in his life.

There is not one bad song on this CD. Each song is catchy and so enjoyable to listen to and sign along to as well. Hard on you, Mockingbird, Snowblind are my favorites!

A must buy if you are a Rob Thomas or Matchbox 20 fan... or if you're not, you'll definitely will become one after listening to this cd. Absolute masterpiece!
