Sound of Music audio CD September 6, 2009 R. Moore (Australia) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
The audio quality is superb. Very clear, very sibilant. Unfortunately it is loaded with a number of interviews at the end and after hearing them once, they are boring. Don't put this CD into a random track selection.
Julie Andrews at one of her best! August 16, 2009 D. Maeshiro (Seattle, WA USA) Love this CD. The recrding is crisp and clear. The Sound of Music Soundtrack stands alone even without the movie! Definitely a pleasure to listen to.
Love the purchase and the price August 11, 2009 Cindy Allen I ordered this for an birthday gift and it came quickly and in good condition. The price was also very satisfactory. Thanks

This CD is exactly what I ordered! Arrived very quickly!
40th Anniversary release - far superior to previous editions June 21, 2009 D. COLLIER (Brownwood, TX United States) It doesn't happen very often, but occasionally -- perhaps once every 10 or 20 years -- a great and memorable soundtrack to a great and memorable film comes out. And fans and enthusiasts are left scratching their heads and pondering which is better: the soundtrack or the film. THE SOUND OF MUSIC is an example of this.
I first heard it when I was about five years old (the film had been out for 25 years at that point). And in my childish mind, I thought it was all ours. I mean my family's. I couldn't believe it when I found out that other people knew about THE SOUND OF MUSIC too when they hadn't even been over to our house to hear the record. But anecdotes aside, along with the music of STAR WARS, THE WIZARD OF OZ, and MARY POPPINS, THE SOUND OF MUSIC became an integral part of my earliest childhood memories of music.
The music on the CD is never dull and never boring. Even the slow tunes like "Something Good" are as wide awake with passion as the boisterous "Sound of Music" or the delightful romp "The Lonely Goatherd".
A huge improvement on the 40th Anniversary Collector's Edition is that all the tracks are arranged in chronological order, as they occur in the film. On the 35th Anniversary CD, there are two discs. The first disc contains the original soundtrack, and the second disc contains the orchestra pieces. The 40th Anniversary release kills two birds with one stone by putting it all on the same disc and in chronological order.
For any soundtrack enthusiast, no soundtrack collection is complete without THE SOUND OF MUSIC (preferably this 40th Anniversary edition.
