Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com
No stranger to the realm of children's records, They Might Be Giants have seen success with their CD No! and the book-and-CD combo Bed, Bed, Bed. Their latest CD, Here Come the ABCs, offers up 25 alphabetically themed songs. However, as is their charming way, the two Johns (Flansburgh and Linnell), use the letters as merely the connective tissue, allowing them to pursuit intriguing flights of fancy that consider everything from the relative power of letters and sounds to animal hijinks. Just as they've always done, there are wistful ballads and high octane rockers. TMBG have always been a family-friendly band, and this disc works just fine for adult fans, who can rightfully consider this simply their newest release. --David Greenberger

5 out of 5 stars Great tunes for kids AND adults   November 12, 2009
teancum (Zarahemla)
This CD & DVD combo (yes, it has both discs) is a lot of fun. We enjoy throwing it in for trips because it's something we can all enjoy & the kids learn along the way. I'm not what you would call a TMBG fan (I've subsequently tried a few other things...) but this is great. The DVD is quirky, but fun to watch once.

3 out of 5 stars Good for kids   November 9, 2009
Michael Magill (Centreville, VA USA)
I have Here comes science, Here come the 123s and Here come the ABCs. My kids like them all but this is definitely the weakest. It does grow on you but the songs are not the best TMBG has to offer. The kids enjoy watching it and sing parts of the songs throughout the day but I am not sure it is really teaching much about the alphabet.

3 out of 5 stars ABC's not as good as 123's.   October 26, 2009
oakland mom (oakland, ca)
I first bought my daughter, 3 years old at the time, the 123's album that had just come out. We enjoyed it tremendously, including the DVD video. I just purchased and received the ABC's album, and though my daughter enjoys both, I like it less because 1) the video segment is not as good, and 2) it is much longer!

5 out of 5 stars Mom, Dad, and 2 & 4 year old kids all LOVE it!   October 26, 2009

I've been a big TMBG fan since the 80s so I was really excited to buy this for the kids. We already had the NO album but they really got into this one thanks to the DVD with the videos for each song (animated; with John & John puppets doing intros to each song). They would watch that DVD endlessly if I let them. The good thing is the videos held their attention and got them hooked on the music so now they love listening to the CD in the car and will sing along (and dance as much as their car seats allow them to) Great buy for the DVD/CD combo. After buying and seeing this one Here Come the 1-2-3s was a no-brainer to get as well!

5 out of 5 stars Finally! An educational dvd that is also fun   October 9, 2009
cabooseplustwo (san marcos, tx)
I first discovered this dvd at the library, my then 5 month old daughter loved it so much that we had to buy it for her. My daughter is now 7 months old and still smiles every time the dvd starts up and the John puppets come on screen. My husband and I love that the songs are mostly educational while not being annoying and when the songs get stuck in our heads we just belt out a lyric or two and laugh. I just bought the Here Come the 1,2,3's dvd as a stocking stuffer and we will most likely end up buying the other cds as well.
