| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com For better or worse, Andrew Lloyd Webber's adaptation of Gaston Leroux's gothic horror/romance novel has done for stage musicals what Spielberg's Jaws did for fish stories, with worldwide sales of its original cast album approaching 25 million. While director Joel Schumacher's film turns on his typically ambitious visual verve, its new film soundtrack recording has been paradoxically focused in scope, yet beefed up dynamically via the brawny presence of a hundred piece orchestra and The London Boys Choir. This single disc version showcases all of Phantom's key songs (a deluxe, double-disc edition is also available), with Gerard Butler imparting a welcome, youthful sensuality to his Phantom, making a fine foil for Emmy Rossum's ever-conflicted Christine. Original show orchestrator David Cullen has fashioned compelling new contemporary arrangements to frame Webber's songs -- which now conclude with the lilting, upbeat new ballad he wrote for the film, "Learn to Be Lonely," sung by Minnie Driver. --Jerry McCulley

Love it! November 18, 2009 Tanya, (CA, USA) I love this CD! It can be a little irritating for my teenagers; "Mom, I can't stand opera music!" Well, their music can be a little irritating for me sometimes too. You can turn the tables on them while you listen to this CD in the car. HaHa! But my 8 year old loves "The Phantom of the Opera" song and sings along with it. She'll say, "Play it again, mom!" She is not totally corrupted yet by the pop culture. Ha! I should have exposed my older kids to music such as this while they were young too.
Great CD October 27, 2009 Melani Bush It took awhile to get to me but it is a good as i hoped! Very satisfied
Phantom of the Opera Movie and CD October 16, 2009 Lindie Ruth (IN) Received both movie and the soundtrack CD. I was not disappointed. They are amazing and beyond my expectations! I love the songs and listen to them frequently. Will definitely be purchasing the written music book for the piano so that I can enjoy playing them also.
Love the music June 28, 2009 AyAK Love the music, the orchestra but geralds voice doesnt live up to the phantom.
His acting was pretty good but his voice paled to compare with hugh panaro a/o Michael Crawford.
Then again Ive been a phantom phan since my mother bought me a music box of masqurade.
Christines voice does portray her innocence, which is good.
When I got the soundtrack and played the song with phantom, I was let down but then I saw the movie and His acting does make up for his voice.
So, I do like the soundtrack.
If you are waiting for Hugh panaro
s phantom cd, forget it. Try youtube.
Great music May 12, 2009 A. Lockhardt (NH, USA) I loved this movie, and couldn't get the the music out of my head.
The CD is good, there are some parts on the tracks that are hard to hear at a normal level though.
I can't wait to see it in the theatre!
