Dual heights November 12, 2009 IRate 3 1/2
Though sandwiched with a little too much finger-snapping detective repetition, esoteric ambiance bookends what would become one of modern sight and sound's most thrilling couples.
Coolest Baritone Guitar Ever November 11, 2009 James E. Hiatt (Shingle Springs, CA USA) ...or was it a bass guitar? Either way, the opening riff to Twin Peaks ranks among the most iconic few notes ever recoded, easily equal to Black Sabbath's, "Black Sabbath", the Rolling Stones, "Start Me Up," and Jimi Hendrix's, "Purple Haze", and White Stripes, "Seven Nation Army." 4 notes that evoked an entire alternate universe filled with killings, odd characters, possession, the FBI, hot high school girls, drugs, incest and the super-natural. If you liked Twin Peaks, these tracks will haunt you and pull you back into the world of Laura Palmer, Agent Cooper, the Log Lady, BOB, Major Briggs, The Man from Another Place and the Giant. Get this album, put it on, it'll creep you out, and take you back.

dark and mysterious, but warm and inviting December 20, 2008 Bill Schaeffer (Venice, CA USA)
I was never a fan of the series and saw very little of it, but one scene with a dwarf speaking backwards/forwards is very memorable. Another scene in a barn, with a foghorn in the background for no reason at all was brilliant. David Lynch has a great ear for sound and Angelo Badalamenti compliments that perfectly.
I first heard this CD in an oil painting class and I still love it. It is great "background music" for artistic exploration, or intellectual pondering. The CD is largely instrumental and creates a very consistent mysterious mood, punctuated by a few short surprises. If you are in a relaxed mindset, you can play this CD over and over and it never really gets boring, it just keeps on flowing. Time stops, and there is just the music, and you; and you are enchanted. Welcome to Twin Peaks.
