Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com
Director Joel Schumacher, who went on to helm many big-budget, tiny-intellectual movies, gave us an 1980s update of the story of the vampire. It was all hip, good-looking, and tremendously vacuous. Similarly, the music doesn't break any new ground or offer much that's timeless. INXS' collaborations with Jimmy Barnes are fine, for instance, but Foreigner vocalist Lou Gramm's "Lost in the Shadows (The Lost Boys)" verges on the painful in a way that only overwrought 1980s music can. Roger Daltrey's take on Elton John's "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" is by the numbers, and so wasted. It's only Echo and the Bunnymen's cover of The Doors' "People Are Strange" that warrants much attention, even if it's, erm, buried. --Scott Wilson

5 out of 5 stars Excellent CD.   September 6, 2009
C. M. Evans (Colorado)
I owned the cassette tape years ago, and missed all the great songs from this soundtrack, so I bought the CD. GREAT SOUNDTRACK - EXCELLENT MOVIE!!!

5 out of 5 stars I love, love, love this CD   August 21, 2009
Seehorse72 (Danbury, Connecticut United States)
Not only does it bring back memories of driving home from seeing Inxs on their "Kick" tour in 1988, the songs are just so good. "Good Times" by Jimmy Barnes & Michael Hutchence seems to be an obscure treasure. Any Michael Hutchence fan who doesn't know about this song is missing out. There are so many good memories from the summer of 1988 that come flooding back to me when I listen to these songs. The music is just so good. Especially "Cry Little Sister" and "I Still Believe". They are awesome! If you're looking for '80s music that is not overplayed and mainstream, this is a good CD to have. It is one of the best movie soundtracks from the '80s.

4 out of 5 stars Old school horror movie soundtrack!!   May 21, 2009
J. A. Vega (Oakland, CA USA)
This soundtrack is one of the highlights of my memories as a teenager in the 80's. I truly enjoyed all of the songs from the film. A great great record. Get it.

5 out of 5 stars The Eighties Rock and so does this soundtrack   April 25, 2009
DRM (OH)
I use to have this soundtrack on cassette. The cassette is long gone. I was very happy when I found it on Amazon.com. For a long time I only liked a handful of songs.

Good Times
Lost In The Shadows
Laying Down The Law
Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me
Cry Little Sister.

Now listening to this again.

I no longer to listen to
Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me.

Now I like

I Still Believe
Beauty Has Her way

In my opinion this soundtrack fits the film perfectly. Every song brings back a memory of one of best vampire films of the 80's. This soundtrack also features the talented Micheal Hutchence and INXS. what a great voice gone to soon may Mr. Hutchence rest in peace.

If you loved the film buy the soundtrack and while your at it also buy the movie.

5 out of 5 stars Best soundtrack   April 18, 2009
T. Johnson (Portland, OR)
Just a short review reinforce what others have already said - this is the best soundtrack I've ever bought, and one of my favorite albums period. Cry Little Sister is the most unique, I love Lost in the Shadows and I Still Believe... but I like pretty much every song on the album (yeah the last 1 minute of carnival music is it's own thing but hey).
