Amazon.com Inspired by 1992's 'Til Their Eyes Shine: The Lullaby Album, an all-female collection of sleepy-time songs for children, Daddies Sing Good Night proves that men are no less tender in nurturing their wee ones. Or at least that's true of these men--including Jesse Winchester, Doc Watson, Peter Rowan, and the late Townes Van Zandt--who wrote the songs for their own offspring, and, in their day jobs, rank among the finest practitioners of folk, country, and bluegrass. In guiding their young charges to dreamworld, these fathers visit exotic lands, lonesome prairies, and even the wide heavens on the gossamer wings of horses. Parental listeners will likely detour into the recesses of their own hearts, in exploring the special bond and soothing strength of fatherhood. --Alanna Nash

Beyond Lullabies; music mom and dad can enjoy February 25, 2010 Tori S. January Soothing baritones and lilting tenors, this cd will keep you lingering in the nursery to hear "just one more song." I found the cd on Amazon 7 years ago when I had my first child. He didn't care for the tinny clinking sounds and soprano voices found on many lullaby cds and I certainly didn't find that sound soothing. Since that time I have purchased several copies of the cd for friends who are bringing their first child into the world. It saved my nerves many a night and Doc Watson's "Little Buckaroo" is still the most requested song at bedtime for my 7-year-old boy and 5-year-old girl. In fact, the girl insists she can't go to sleep if I don't play it.
A favorite in our home for nearly a decade! June 11, 2009 Mitchell Diggs (Oxford, MS United States) We got this CD for my son when he was nearly 2, and it helped him fall asleep every night. He's going on 11 now, and he still plays it at bedtime each night. And if he wakes up during the night, he hits the play button on his CD player so he can go to sleep by this great music.
Even if you're not a big fan of country or "cowboy" music, this is a great collection. They're simple, folksy, soothing tunes that kids love. We have given this collection to lots of friends as baby gifts.
Grated on my ears like fingernails on chalkboard January 15, 2009 Russian Hill Mom (San Francisco, CA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you like the music on NPR's Prairie Home Companion, get this CD. Otherwise, take a pass - your nerves will thank you for it!
Pleasant, but a little too "cowboy" for my tastes. September 11, 2008 Chip Konowitz (Northampton, MA USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This collection of daddies is great to listen to. The kids like it, but I sometimes feel like I'm stuck in front of a campfire with folks taken out of an old cowboys on the prairy" scene. Great re-make of Baby James though.
Music to keep for future grandkids.... May 9, 2008 Research Mom (Texas) When my night owl son was a toddler, this was the only music that calmed him down enough to sleep. My son has now asked for another copy - to give to his 4th grade teacher as a baby shower gift! I'm thankful it is still available!
This CD has a special place in my heart as well as in the hearts of all three of my kids.
