| Customer Reviews:
Stride Master July 4, 2008 Louis Mazetier's latest solo disc dates from the 30th and 31st of August, 2007 at The Old Church in Boswil, Switzerland. It was beautifully recorded, mixed, and mastered by Peter and Fanny Pfister-seasoned professionals who specialize in solo piano recordings for the Swiss Jazz Connaseur label.
There is over 70 minutes of music. There are 7 Mazetier originals and 15 old numbers, some of them stride piano compositions from James P. Johnson, Donald Lambert, and Willie The Lion Smith.
It's always wonderful to hear Mazetier's superb stride playing and in that category he does not disappoint. The scope of this recording is, however, much greater. There are tunes such as 'Sweet and Lovely',Morton's 'The Pearls','Walking My Baby Back Home','Skylark','Just You, Just Me',and 'I Guess I'll Have To Change My Plans', all performed with wit, grace, and charm by this phenomenal two handed pianist.
Hopefully this recording will get some exposure and a little "press" for Dr. Mazetier. It's an absolutely gorgeous disc, full of surprises and more than a hint of pianistic genius. It gets my highest recommendation on every count.
