Spooky Strings for Halloween features some of classical music's most haunting musical compositions. The fugues of Bach, master of counterpoint, and the sonatas of Beethoven, perhaps the greatest composer of all time, have been meticulously scoured over, and only those with the darkest themes and melodies have been included on this album. The Halloween Orchestra, formed by some of Philadelphia's top session players, had talent in droves. Keyboardists, guitarists, trumpeters and tympani players alike gather once a year, in late October, to cover classical music's scariest compositions, in effect ushering in the entire Halloween spirit. This is the first record of that gathering, recorded in 2007. All members agree to make this an annual event, with the goal being a charity event by this time next year.
