I just received this thermos as a present from my boyfriend. He had it one day shipped because I was devastated that my old Target brand mug started to smell. I was very excited as I promptly received this item.
I just came from the sink to wash it out before I use it tomorrow. I tipped it over with the cover securely fastened. It leaked. A continuous stream leaks out when I turn the tumbler upside down. Now this is advertised as "This tumbler offers easy-sip, no-spill commuting." What a load of crap. I am beyond disappointed and the seller is going to get an e-mail from me. So much for one day shipping on an item that turned out to be a big disappointment. Not a good mug for a commuting student.
Leak resistant??? Might as well not have a lid on it October 16, 2009

They call it "leak resistant" which is a lie. Might as well not have a lid on it, it pours coffee everywhere if you so much as tilt it. This is NOT a tumbler that you can throw in a backpack or briefcase.
Unless the one I received is defective, I urge you to look elsewhere. This company makes a good leak proof model, as do other brands.

One of these units has been in service for several years and the new unit which is now in service are the best on the market. They keep drinks hot or cold for very, very long periods of time. All other brands are junk compared to this one.

After reading reviews about this mug, I decided to buy one for my dad for his birthday. He's particularly picky about his coffee being EXTREMELY hot, and he also likes to nurse it over the course of an hour or two. In a typical morning, he tells me that he goes back to the microwave between 3 and 10 times to re-heat. (A bit absurd, if you ask me.)
I gave him this mug thinking he'd like it for travel, but just for kicks he used it at home the day after opening it up. He happily reported to me that using the mug he did not have to re-heat his coffee once!
I don't know about all the other aspects of the mug or even how it compares to others. I just know that insulation-wise, it has satisfied my dad, and that's saying a lot.
